- Struggle of a Manic-Depressive
97,95 - 157,95 kr. Dark to Light explores one woman's journey through the darkness, madness, loneliness, and despair of manic-depression. The book opens with poetry and prose that express the darker side of the illness. It is in her darkness, however, that she learns she is not alone and that by sticking together with others caught in the same bondage as she, there is both Hope and Light to be found. Through her suffering, she learns the importance of her God-given life and so begins the rise out of her pit. Rising out of the Dark she walks boldly into the Light with a new perspective on life and herself. She learns to focus on beauty as a weapon against the darkness. She finally comes to a place where she can find peace and gratitude to God. It is an amazing journey from the embrace of darkness into the warmth of the light.

123,95 kr. Obsession wore spiked heels as hip-grinding passion writhed in a tight skirt. Foreplay unravelled to a sweet jazz soliloquy that keeps men scheming and younger men dreaming. What you looking at, Sugar? I didn't have a quick answer as she teased with a slow buttermilk whisper, Do you like it? This was her game, and she knew it. Answers were tucked in her silk purse where love flowed and then exploded in an infinite passage of inane adjectives and flashing lights: "A Suite Invitation"

292,95 kr. This is my second book of original poetry. The first one, GIFTS, was published nine years ago in 2007. As I said then, I seldom (if ever) sit down to write a poem intentionally. Poems come to me out of the blue - like presents in the mail from far-off friends. I can edit and polish them, rewrapping and refining the original idea, but the real source of the inspiration is always a mysterious gift. Sometimes it comes from interactions with friends and family, other times from my religious or musical families. Sometimes it comes during trips to far-off places, and other times during quiet moments. In this book I pass along these gifts to you. I hope you enjoy them.

She waited, sitting on the grass in her sweater and scarf. We didn't open our door, never came out, yet she knew we could see her. That was satisfaction enough. What happens to loyalty and betrayal during war? Do they hold back? Wait for a more opportune moment? Or do they rush in, impose themselves over the deadlier, more longlasting pain of tragedy and loss, and complicate everyday lives even further?

We see signs of Electra's influence again in the 20th-century works of Oscar Wilde, Eugene O'Neill and T.S. Eliot, among others. This revised and updated edition looks more closely at the influence of Electra on popular culture throughout history and the questions it poses regarding oppositions such as logic versus instinct, night versus day and repression versus freedom."This is the perfect read for those who enjoy history, mythology, educational and psychological studies of theater and literature throughout the centuries." -Reviewed by Tony Espinoza, Pacific Book Review"Succinctly written and impeccably researched, Casper's study examines not only the character of Electra but also many key components and notions of early civilizations."-Reviewed by Mihir Shah, US Review of Books

129,95 kr. As their lives unfold, the three women find themselves facing choices they would never have envisioned. In my heart, I call to their mothers, 'Take your sons to your houses. Bind them to your chairs: gag them, blindfold them if necessary until they grow calm. Then teach them, for they have forgotten, about peace, about the blessed life, about a future-a present-without pain.Beneath their prayers, in their morning cups of coffee, beneath their love-making and their child-rearing, and in their sorrow, especially in their sorrow when burying their dead, I hear the simmering of heating souls; I smell the charge of armies, of lives exploding uselessly into smithereens.I sit in mourning over a disaster still to come. In Israel, the lives of three women interweave with the story of their country. Ratiba, an Israeli journalist, turns her back on her heritage to marry an Israeli Arab. Her sister Orit, an actor, lives alone and longs for her lost sister. Elisheva is a nurse who dedicates her life to the wounded and the dying. As their lives unfold, the three women find themselves facing choices they would never have envisioned. This is a story of secrets and alienation, yet also of hope and heroism. It is about Arabs who save Jews from disaster and Jews who heal Arabs. It is the story of everyday people torn and desperately searching for the right path. Here, the ancient pulsates in present time and the biblical holds prominence with the secular. Beneath this modern-day drama unfolds the story of a land and its people, revealing the historical trajectory of two peoples, victims and perpetrators of a biblical curse. 'This perspective, poignant novel offers a fresh and essential outlook on Israel. With memorable characters and an abundance of drama, Israela is gripping reading. At last count, Douglas and Amanda Shaw have 133 living descendants. Sixty-six books of the Bible chronicle stories and instructions from the lives and descendants of Adam, Eve, Sarah, and Abraham. The Shaws Multiplied briefly tells stories of the lives, adventures, and experiences of some of the descendants of Douglas and Amanda Shaw-some deceased and other still living. From the stories depicting character traits, personalities, education, and occupations, I pray you will recognize traits that show who you are because of who they were. Be proud, stand taller, and continue to work on developing those positive attributes in you. Get acquainted with these folks and enjoy the memories.
