118,95 kr. Literally meaning "heart", the Japanese word "kokoro" can be more distinctly translated as "the heart of things" or "feeling." Natsume Soseki's 1914 novel, which was originally published in serial format in a Japanese newspaper, "Kokoro" deals with the transition from the Japanese Meiji society to the modern era. Divided into three parts "Sensei and I," "My Parents and I," and "Sensei and His Testament," the novel explores the themes of loneliness and isolation. In the first part we find the narrator attending university where he befriends an older man, known only as "Sensei," who lives a largely reclusive life. In the second part of the novel the narrator graduates from college and returns home to await the death of his father. The third part of the novel recounts a letter that the narrator receives from the "Sensei," which describes the circumstances that caused his loss of faith in humanity and the guilt he feels over the death of a childhood friend which drives him to the reclusive life that he has led. A deeply thematic novel "Kokoro" provides an excellent introduction to one of Japan's most beloved authors, Natsume Soseki.

118,95 kr. First published in 1897, "In Tune with the Infinite" is the widely acclaimed and highly influential self-help book by Ralph Waldo Trine, the American philosopher, teacher, author, and leader in the New Thought Movement. This is Trine's most well-known work and inspired such notable figures as Queen Victoria, Janet Gaynor, and Henry Ford, who publicly attributed his business and financial success to the ideas he found in Trine's book. Considered to be one of the best motivational books ever written, Trine gives readers practical advice on how to bring our thoughts and awareness in tune with the spiritual laws of the universe so that we might live in harmony with those laws and reap the benefits of this more positive way of thinking. Trine advises that we embrace an attitude of goodwill and kindness as he firmly believed that our internal attitude manifests into our daily reality. Millions of copies of Trine's classic guide have been printed and it has been translated into dozens of languages. Over a hundred years after it was first published, people still find guidance and inspiration in Trine's helpful and affirming advice for finding success in life. First published originally in German in 1921, "Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus" is the only book-length philosophical work by Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein published during his lifetime. Based upon notes made during his time serving in World War I, the treatise is composed of 526 numbered declarative statements that are presented without argument and were seen by Wittgenstein as being self-evident. Wittgenstein's style is succinct and sparse and his ideas are presented in a highly logical, organized, and scientific manner. Wittgenstein proposes that the solution to all major philosophical problems can be solved only with logic and a scientific analysis of language and its meaning. His idea that philosophy is not about metaphysics and mysticism, but about critical and rational thought led to a massive shift in philosophical theories after its publication. The treatise was influential with many of the "logical positivists" of the Vienna Circle, such as Rudolf Carnap and Friedrich Waismann, and to philosophers such as Bertrand Russell. Considered one of the most significant and influential philosophical works of the twentieth century, this treatise is an important read for any student of the history of language and ideas. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.
