448,95 kr. This work introduces a novel approach to keep high-level component-based architecture models consistent with source code during software development and software evolution. The approach helps to avoid architecture drift and architecture erosion, which are two well-known problems that can arise during development and maintenance of a software system. In particular, the presented approach can be used to keep instances of the Palladio Component Model (PCM) consistent with Java source code.

Developing automated visual inspection systems for complex-shaped transparent objects still represents a challenging task. As a solution, this book introduces light field methods for all main components of a visual inspection system: a novel light field sensor, suitable processing methods and a light field illumination approach.

583,95 kr. This book addresses the turbulence-driven mean secondary motions in straight open duct flow with rectangular cross-section. Despite its weak intensity, the secondary flow influences the primary velocity distribution significantly. Coherent structure analysis showed that the secondary flow is the statistical footprint of quasi-streamwise vortices, and the unique mean flow pattern is a consequence of a vortex sorting mechanism that is only effective in the vicinity of free surface.

498,95 kr. This work presents a method for the continuous improvement of communication structures in the design phase of construction projects. The method is rooted in the concepts of Lean Management and it models project structures as social networks. Successful application of the method in case studies shows an innovative use case for Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM can serve as a data source for modeling of social networks during the design phase of construction projects.

478,95 kr. The present work deals with the design of structure-preserving numerical methods in the field of nonlinear elastodynamics with an extension to multi-field problems. A new approach to the design of energy-momentum (EM) consistent time-stepping schemes for nonlinear elastodynamics is proposed. Moreover, we extend the formalism to multi-field problems.

583,95 kr. This work presents a numerical FEM framework, capable of predicting SOFC performance under technically relevant, planar stack contacting conditions. A high level of confidence in the model predictions is supplied by using exclusively experimentally determined material/kinetic parameters and by a comprehensive validation. The presented model aids SOFC stack development by pre-evaluating possible material choices and design combinations for cells/interconnectors without any experimental effort.

423,95 kr. Magnetic molecules have attracted lots of interest. In this work, an ultra-stable and low noise scanning tunneling microscopy operating at 400 mK using He-3 (930 mK using He-4) has been developed. The magnetic behavior of different magnetic molecules on substrates, especially the exchange interaction between the magnetic ions, the magnetic anisotropy on the surface, the magnetic excitations as well as the Kondo effect, were studied by using STM.

488,95 kr. Environmental investments, such as emission control measures hardly gain profit but are enforced by policy. Such investments can be expected to be delayed as much as legally feasible. Yet, if increasing expenditures for the same investment in the future are likely to occur, an advanced investment may be favorable. A cost calculation methodology for NO¿ control techniques and a real option based decision support model for investments not gaining economic profit is presented in the book.

478,95 kr. Robustly maintaining balance on two legs is an important challenge for humanoid robots. The work presented in this book represents a contribution to this area. It investigates efficient methods for the decision-making from internal sensors about whether and where to step, several improvements to efficient whole-body postural balancing methods, and proposes and evaluates a novel method for efficient recovery step generation, leveraging human examples and simulation-based reinforcement learning.

593,95 kr. Several novel diagnostic systems based on the detection of coherent THz radiation are presented. The investigation of the photon beam properties allow for bunch-by-bunch and turn-by-turn diagnostics of the emitting electron bunches in the accelerator. It is used for time-resolved studies of the micro-bunching instability. Accompanying simulations with Inovesa show a good agreement with the measurement which enhances the knowledge of the physics behind the micro-bunching instability.

583,95 kr. This work investigates the capability of the high-temperature superconductor YBCO to sense the evolution of the electrical field of THz pulses. A deposition process for ten unit-cell thin films and a sub-µm patterning process were developed to enable high sensitivities. The detector response to THz exctiations and its electrical-field sensitivity were studied. This unique characteristic allows for the investigation of instabilities of the THz radiation emitted from synchrotron storage rings.

528,95 kr. Catheter ablation is a major treatment for atrial tachycardias. Hereby, the precise monitoring of the lesion formation is an important success factor. This book presents computational, wet-lab, and clinical studies with the aim of evaluating the signal characteristics of the intracardiac electrograms (IEGMs) recorded around ablation lesions from different perspectives. The detailed analysis of the IEGMs can optimize the description of durable and complex lesions during the ablation procedure.

468,95 kr. Current automotive radar sensors prove to be a weather robust and low-cost solution, but are suffering from low resolution and are not capable of classifying detected targets. However, for future applications like autonomous driving, such features are becoming ever increasingly important. On the basis of successful state-of-the-art applications, this work presents the first in-depth analysis and ground-breaking, novel results of polarimetric millimeter wave radars for automotive applications.

433,95 kr. Worldwide simultaneous effects of technologies, international challenges such as climate change as well as shifting relationships between science and society call for approaches that can address these issues on a global level. This book examines the potential of Technology Assessment (TA), as an until now mainly national and Western concept, to take on this global level and provide answers to these pressing questions.

633,95 kr. Fission product yield data play an important role in simulations of nuclear fission reactors, aimed at fuel cycle and safety analyses. The respective evaluated data libraries still have shortcomings regarding the treatment of energy dependencies and uncertainty information. This work has been aimed at the development of a fission model for future fission product yield evaluations as well as its validation on the levels of cross-sections, fission product yields and time dependent decay radiation.
