This work was originally published in 1911, by the State of Alabama Department of Archives and History, Thomas M. Owen, Director, as their "Bulletin No. 5." An alphabetically arranged list of Alabama Revolutionary soldiers, the lists have been created from reliable and authentic sources consisting of contemporary obituaries; the "Revolutionary Pension Roll," published by the U.S. Government; the "Census of Pensioners," published in 1841; inscriptions from tombstones; well authenticated data taken from published family histories; and the manuscript "Pension Book," kept officially by the State Branch Bank at Mobile, Alabama; and various other sources. Information provided often includes, when available, county of residence, age, rank, assigned unit, payments and payment amounts, dates, names of wives and children, and biographical information.

Nantucket is an island 30 miles south of Cape Cod, in Massachusetts, which, together with the small islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, constitutes the Town of Nantucket, as well as Nantucket County. In 1641, Nantucket Island was deeded by the English to Thomas Mayhew, a merchant in Watertown, Massachusetts, and his son, Thomas. In 1659, Thomas Mayhew, reserving a small part to himself, sold most of his interest to a group of nine investors, consisting of Tristram Coffin, Peter Coffin, Thomas Macy, Christopher Hussey, Richard Swain, Thomas Barnard, Stephen Greenleaf, John Swain and William Pike. This work focuses on the biographies and genealogies of these founders and early settlers of Nantucket. Includes an Appendix and Index.

WPA Technical Series: Research and Records Bibliography No. 7; Revised April 1943. This work was originally prepared by the Work Projects Administration (formerly the Works Progress Administration), and entitled "WPA Research and Records Bibliography No. 4," dated September 12, 1940, and "Research and Records Bibliography No. 4, revised," issued September 1, 1941. With this printing, the publication was reissued with the title "Bibliography of Research Projects Reports: Check List of Historical Records Survey Publications, revised April 1943," which better reflects the content of the book. This is the final listing of "Historical Records Survey" publications issued between 1936 and 1943, which were prepared under various names and several related federal programs. Included in these publications are transcriptions of state, county, town and municipal records, taken from the various archives that provide detailed information accumulated by each governing body and that depict important and relevant historical data to the genealogist and historian. Many of the records transcribed included minutes of meetings, matters taken before the court, and the work product of various commissions and boards. Also of vital interest to researchers are listings of what reports or publications are available for the various states, counties, and municipalities, and, more importantly, where those publications are located.
