318,95 kr. The sea shanties, YOLOs, and red bandanas were just the beginning. Authors, journalists, and filmmakers have all attempted to tell stories about "dumb money" or "a revolution that wasn't," but every rendition has fallen short of the truth. Witness firsthand the real and utterly ludicrous hive-mind that brought Wall Street to its knees in January 2021, and find out why GameStop was only the beginning of an even more unprecedented retail contagion, one which will challenge everything you think you know about our markets (all over again). In a digital world of frequently deleted, revised, and buried information, accurately piecing together events as they occurred is nearly impossible. While other media may have succeeded in secondary recaps of the GameStop phenomenon, author Rob Smat delves into the primary source material, having lived it himself. Most importantly of all, find out why the GameStop phenomenon isn't some pandemic-era fad, but instead a very real and continuing battle with billions of dollars still hanging in the balance.

"Food With Spirit: Alcohol-Infused Recipes, the latest book from chef, author, and television personality Alicia Shevetone, is a delightful look into the imaginative spirit of one of America's most innovative culinary artists. Shevetone is the founder of DINK Cuisine (Dual Income No Kids) where cooking is focused on rightsizing portions for smaller households. The approach takes form in this book by providing two versions of each recipe that serve either two people or four people. This also helps address another issue that Shevetone is passionate about: the elimination of food waste. Food With Spirit is a unique approach that meets a need often overlooked by modern cookbooks-cooking for one or two without creating massive amounts of leftovers and without sacrificing flavor. Food With Spirit is 116 pages and features fifty recipes spread across five sections. Appetizers Soups Entrees Sides Desserts Each is complemented with beautiful photos. All fifty recipes are infused with some of our favorite intoxicants, from spiced rum to the smooth flavors of cognac"--

298,95 kr. If you are bothered by greenwashing, baffled by eco-denialism, and bewildered by our seemingly inexorable march toward global environmental catastrophe, this book is for you. In a not-so-distant future, in a world ravaged by climate change and invasive pests, humanity still chooses self-deception over sacrifice. Even the ubiquitous green flies buzzing around our heads don't concentrate our minds on what humanity's survival requires. When a sly US Senator and a jaded propagandist concoct a longshot and cynically opportunistic "environmentalist" campaign for the Presidency, it looks like just more of the old, phony politics. But then things start to get real. And hilarious. And hopeful. Because the politician and the propagandist start to care about the planet. As they begin telling voters the truth, they also stop lying to themselves. If you remain hopeful that maybe it's not too late, that against the odds humanity might still get it together and face reality - and especially if you haven't lost your sense of humor -- you will love The Environmental Alarmist.

713,95 kr. Originally published in 1933, Romania by Kurt Hielscher is an astonishing volume of photographs depicting the life of Romanian people in the interwar era. In 1931 he was invited by the Romanian government to visit the country. "As time went on," he said "every day, every week I loved the country more." It was a love that grew throughout 1931 and 1932 and resulted in over 5000 photographs of which 304 were finally selected for this album. Unfortunately in 1944, an Allied bombing destroyed his life's work after hitting his workshop in Poland. He lost over 40,000 photographs and negatives. This photo album is a recreation of Hielscher's work and brings an homage to the love and appreciation he showed for Romania. Featuring over 300 black and white and sepia photographs, a colorized cover, a preface from Octavian Goga, and an introduction by Ernest H. Latham, Jr., it's a one-of-a-kind collection for anyone interested in the history of Romania.

213,95 kr. The world is changing fast and politics are changing with them. Throughout history, times of change are marked by great leaders changing the world for the better. Our world today is in crisis. There is a need for a new generation of politicians to change the world, and they seem to appear, with a new style to how they think and how they behave, and Emmanuel Macron could very well be a prototype. Macron Unveiled examines Macron's first four years as France's president, scrutinizing Macron's personality, his way of solving problems, his sources of inspiration, his mistakes, his difficulties, as well as the impact he may already have had in his country, in Europe, and the world. New leaders with a modern approach to politics are quickly emerging, and despite having limited political experience, they are facing the challenges of today head on. As the world moves on from the impact of President Trump, there is a growing interest in world affairs what leadership will look like tomorrow. New ideas and new ways of doing things are changing the political landscape. As a former French Diplomat, psychologist, and political coach, Alain Lefebvre is uniquely positioned to explain the French perspective to international audiences. He brings careful analysis and historical context to Macron's time in office and presents the information in a way that will helps readers gain a better understanding of who Macron is as a man, a leader, and a prototype for the next generation of political leaders.

318,95 kr. Born in Italy during World War II, Salvatore Forcina was a young boy who survived all odds by living through his young childhood without any real or proper shelter. Like many Italians during this time, a month after turning eight years old his parents followed this migration to Argentina, a developing country at the time rich with natural resources and hope for a more stable life. Sent away to live with Redemptorist priests for seven long years as the only available option to study, this young boy struggled emotionally and psychologically with no social outlets and little emotional development. Salvatore's dream to study medicine and help people propelled him to carry on and continue his education, eventually being educated and living on three different continents, each with a new language to learn and master. Despite his meager beginnings which provided no social and little educational opportunity and despite the many years and setbacks it took him to accomplish this, his goal was ultimately accomplished because of his sheer determination. This true-life story is motivating, uplifting and based on what genuine love of family can provide to someone.

213,95 kr. The Duck Book is a picture book aimed at children of all ages, and their parents. It is designed to encourage dialogue between kids and parents, and to bring laughter and entertainment. It is filled with absurd questions and situations, like "Have you ever made a giraffe laugh?" combined with just such a picture, or "Have you ever grown a carrot too big for your pet pig?" Again with a picture. Also, "Have you ever shared a cake with a snake?" Now beginning to explore fear of all kinds, but lightly. All the many situations allowing kids to expand their imaginations. like "Do you sometimes get ahead of yourself?" Pictured on a trapeze, or "If you could fly would you land in a cherry pie?" with a very messy illustration. Absurdity is the key word, and the situations are flexible, and hopefully always funny, and unlimited in variety, for example, "Can you hoot like an owl?", or do you share hot dogs with friendly frogs?" Or "If you pull a whale's tail, do you go to whale jail?"

213,95 kr. Lucy Carnegie, wife of industrialist Thomas Carnegie, dreamed of creating on Cumberland Island a home where her children would be safe from the smoke and soot-filled skies over Pittsburgh. Protected by the waters of the Cumberland Sound, the estate she built encompassed nearly the entire island. It was a perfect world, until the outside world intruded. Stone by stone it all came tumbling down. Wild horses now crop the grass around the burnt-out mansion. Rattlesnakes nest among the ruins. A century later, another family comes to Cumberland to walk among the horses and to accept what gifts the island has to offer: solitude, unspoiled wilderness, and wildlife free to roam undisturbed. Returning year after year, Rhamy and her parents explore the island and swim in the ocean. They picnic on the beach where servants once served champagne, shrimp cocktails, and crab cakes to the Carnegie family and their guests. They gaze at the chimneys surrounding Stafford house, all that remain of slave quarters that once housed plantation field hands. They mourn for Zabette, daughter of a plantation owner and his black servant, sold to a man who fathered her six children, then abandoned her. Always, everywhere on the island, the horses graze nearby, unaware of efforts by environmentalists to remove them from the island where they have lived for centuries. Traveling to the north end of the island, the family sits for a quiet moment in the church where JFK Jr. married Carolyn Bessette. Across the pasture is the shack where naturalist Carol Ruckdeschel has lived for fifty years and the porch where her lover lay dead, shot through the heart. In the campgrounds, on the beach, at the Dungeness dock, wild horses graze. For now, they are safe. Rita Welty Bourke is the author of Kylie's Ark: The Making of a Veterinarian. She's a regular contributor to literary magazines, including The Southwest Review, Shenandoah, Black Warrior Review, and The North American Review. Married to songwriter Rory Michael Bourke, she's the mother of three daughters. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

423,95 kr. A cookbook with a historic recipe anthology does not easily define the wonder of tracking the evolution of the cookbook and the modernization of the kitchen. Pamela Kure Grogan's My Cookbook Passion draws upon a vintage selection from her 3,000 volume cookbook collection showcasing the changing palates of those at-home and at-travel epicureans. In it, she visualizes the impact of various world wars, financial depressions, expanding transcontinental auto usage, and the technological advancement of utensils and ingredients used in the kitchen on the public's taste. My Cookbook Passion is a color panorama of historic cookbooks and recipes with the stories of how such books came into being. Chapters include: "Entertaining is Fun"; "Reach for the Stars" on celebrities; "Inns & Farms"; books on food publishers like Barrows & Co; and a list of famous chefs and their restaurants, most now gone from the scene. There are even hints about becoming a discerning cookbook collector. Pamela Kure Grogan worked for twenty years as Store Manager at Williams Sonoma and at Sur La Table kitchen stores. She also served as Food Editor for an online food company.
