Of course, the fairy tales of tomorrow won't be the same stories of today. What will these tales of the future be like? Well, there will be dragons, though they may be robotic dragons created to capture a "princess" in a war-torn world. After the events of The Chalice and The Blood Crown, Cadmus Pariah finds himself haunted by the spirit of Faust, who was brutally murdered by the Dark Child of Night. The ghost compels Cadmus to return to the site of the slain Vampire saint, to try to find the last lost Vampire Relic called The Augury of Gideon. He is joined by Kelat, Dmitri, Orphaeus Cygnus, and others on this journey, not realizing the Augury is much closer than he could imagine, and could possibly pose a grave danger to him.
