Homelessness and precarious living conditions are critical issues among the urban poor and represent a significant policy concern in several industrialized countries. The COVID-19 pandemic appears to have increased the prevalence of people living in inadequate shelter due to sudden income shocks. However, publicly available data on the global homeless population are extremely rare. In this book, the authors first compile a newly created database that includes data on homeless populations in various countries and cities in Europe, Australia, and the United States. They then shed light on the relationship between a country's institutional characteristics and the size of its homeless population: countries with higher rates of homelessness are those that have experienced a greater increase in inequality and a higher proportion of migrants. Second, the authors present and discuss the results of survey data collected among homeless people in three cities in Italy. Their findings show that a significant majority of the homeless are divorced men in the middle phase of their lives, with unemployment and family breakdown as the primary reasons for their homeless status

"Nel Nido dell'Aquila" è il racconto di un viaggio in Germania, sulle tracce di Dietrich Bonhoeffer, teologo coinvolto nella congiura per uccidere Hitler e rovesciare il regime nazista, che venne impiccato poche settimane prima della fine della guerra. La ben documentata narrazione storica è intervallata dalle esperienze di viaggio dell'autore - raccontate con brio e ironia - in luoghi che, in un gioco di suggestioni e rimandi, lo riportano ogni volta e di nuovo alla drammatica vicenda di Bonhoeffer e della cospirazione. Il lettore viene così accompagnato nell'antica abbazia di Ettal, quindi nelle Alpi bavaresi, alle pendici dello "Zugspitze", il "gigante" dei monti tedeschi, al "Nido d'Aquila", vertiginoso rifugio di Hitler, ai tanti luoghi berlinesi più strettamente legati a Bonhoeffer e al nazismo, mentre si dipana fino al suo tragico epilogo la storia del teologo nella congiura. Un epilogo che però lascia aperta la questione fondamentale, che l'autore si pone dinanzi alla "Pilatus Haus", casa dipinta di Oberammergau. È proprio la domanda di Pilato a Cristo: "che cos'è verità?". È verità la spietata ingiustizia della storia che abbatte tanti innocenti e tanti giusti? O la verità più reale e profonda bisogna cercarla su un altro piano? Tornati ad Ettal, dove il viaggio era incominciato, si troverà una sorprendente risposta.Angelo Michele Imbriani, storico contemporaneista e studioso di teologia, insegna storia e filosofia presso il liceo classico di Avellino. Ha pubblicato numerosi saggi sul fascismo e sul Mezzogiorno nel dopoguerra, tra cui "Gli Italiani e il Duce. Il mito e l'immagine di Mussolini (1938-1943)" - per Liguori - e "Vento del Sud. Moderati, reazionari, qualunquisti (1943-1948)" - con Il Mulino. Sta ultimando un dottorato di ricerca con un lavoro su Bonhoeffer e la letteratura, presso la Facoltà Valdese di Teologia, presso la quale ha già conseguito la laurea in scienze bibliche e teologiche.

According to the OECD definition, the space economy is the set of activities and use of space resources that create value and benefits for humanity through the exploration, understanding, management, and use of space. The space economy goes far beyond the space sector in a narrow sense, because it extends to the increasingly pervasive and changing impacts of products, services, and knowledge derived from space. Based on the most recent estimates, the space economy globally is now worth $469 billion dollars, with double-digit percentage growth forecast for the next decades. But what is most important is that the space economy will provide opportunities for growth for less developed countries as well, contributing to the achievement of the sustainable development goals. These considerations are the starting point for the fascinating journey that fills the pages of this book: space exploration and tourism, asteroid economics, new "Made in Space" products but also space debris wandering in the traffic of increasingly congested orbits. The future is indeed just around the corner: We need to prepare ourselves by equipping our human capital with all the necessary knowledge.

The world has never be so rich--at least financially. And so unsustainable--economically, socially, and environmentally. In fact, we are all living a "nemesis of wealth" (nealth), caused by our shortsighted choices of the past, just focused on ROE, NPV, and shareholders' value. This "nealth" is now paying us back not only with loads of public debt, inflationary money, and debased cryptocurrencies; but also with unbearable social discrimination, geopolitical tensions and wars and de-globalization; and--last but not least--with the ticking bomb of the climate change to come. If this is the legacy of our "intergenerational arbitrage" (theft?), what is the future for the Gen Z and of the many a to come? How can they manage and overcome all these unbearable burdens to regain the lost sustainability? A new definition of wealth, based on a more holistic "total sustainability," is then required; and, correspondingly, new models to design, manage, and value a targeted wealth creation that is relevant to many stakeholders. Never has been the challenge of change for the wealth management industry so critical, urgent, and of the utmost importance.

Gli asterischi, qui proposti, sono tutti inediti e si affiancano, dunque, in un grande parto gemellare, a quelli che sono stati, e continuano ad essere, pubblicati, a parte, dalla rivista. Non hanno alcun carattere metafisicamente astratto, ma culturalmente concreto. Provano a dimostrare come in un breve spazio cartaceo sia ancora possibile esprimere opinioni, che, secondo l'alta tradizione umanistica, si sforzano di divenire conversazioni civili con lettori, altrettanto colti e civili, capaci di cogliere il senso e il valore di una nazione, destinata necessariamente a proiettarsi verso nuovi orizzonti, tenendosi però fermamente salda ad antichi, inalienabili valori.

Attraverso l¿esame di tre fonti documentarie del Settecento (tutte integralmente pubblicate), relative al casale di Sirignano ¿ piccola borgata dello stato feudale di Avella, alle falde del Preappennino Campano ¿, l¿autore ricostruisce alcuni paradigmatici aspetti della vita socio-politica, economica e religiosa di una comunità rurale del Mezzogiorno in età moderna. In primo luogo il testo analizza due atti pubblici, fortunosamente sopravvissuti in un protocollo notarile, che descrivono, in maniera dettagliata, alcuni dei meccanismi attraverso i quali l¿universitas di Sirignano provvedeva al proprio autogoverno. Vengono poi focalizzati due documenti relativi alla parrocchia, i quali, oltre all¿elenco dei sacerdoti titolari dal 1561 al 1708, forniscono un interessante quadro sulle attività e le iniziative di natura materiale ed economica intraprese da uno dei parroci. Ampio spazio il saggio dedica, infine, al complesso delle proprietà feudali e burgensatiche e ai diritti feudali, che la famiglia Caracciolo della Gioiosa possedeva nel casale e nel territorio di Sirignano, attingendo a quella fondamentale fonte che è il Catasto Onciario di metà Settecento.

È difficile parlare d¿amore. Tra i sentimenti che agitano l'animo umano è il sentimento più complesso ed inquieto. "Sogni rosso rubino" racconta, nell¿urlo dei versi e nel sussurro dei cuori, la veemenza indomabile dell¿amore che diviene legame indissolubile tra due esseri: legame che supera le convenzioni, le regole stabilite, il buonsenso comune e a volte pure la razionalità stessa e la volontà dell¿individuo. Il legame indomabile che trova in se stesso, nella sua involontaria, a volte inconsapevole ed incosciente realtà, il suo principio e la sua essenza. Questi versi appassionati graffiano l¿anima e trascinano il lettore in un vortice di emozioni che, tra l¿urlo del cuore e il vagheggiamento dei sensi, sfiora e attraversa l¿essenza stessa del potente sentimento amoroso.

Collaboration and teamwork are the keystones of organizational life.
