No friends other than a dead man, the infamous witch hunter, Cotton Mather. Robert died in 1944 during Operation Overlord. His last memory was the feeling of hot metal lancing through his abdomen as he sunk to the ocean floor, mere yards from Omaha Beach. Robert believes he was brought back, back from the dead - for a purpose. That purpose, only Cotton can interpret, for the clues come to Robert in murderous dreams. Murderous dreams that land his quarry upon "the list". For demons walk this earth- and they must be culled. Trapped in a modern purgatory, will Robert succeed in filling his quota? Can he cope with the ever increasing cigarette prices? Will he ever get a ticket off this rock?On a holy mission from God, Robert seeks to eradicate demons from this world. At the same time, he also aims to drink as much beer and Kentucky bourbon he can get his mitts on. Meanwhile, visions of lovers long lost haunt him across the decades. Questionable judgment, drunkenness, Rorschach tests and trips to the loony bin prevail, leading up to a realization that only the most paranoid schizophrenic could possibly imagine."

111,95 kr. Letters to Bizzy finds a man, John Tibbits, past his prime staring down the barrel of old age, having to come to grips with his mother's death and regrettable fact his dysfunctional youth has burdened him with a lifetime of unwelcome baggage. As he sorts through his mother's personal effects he discovers boxes of unopened letters written some 50 years earlier from a man, Robert Guthrie, to his daughter, Bizzy. They tell the story of a life lived on a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, Bogue Banks. There is nothing sensational in the telling, average by most accounts. However, through the eyes of Robert Guthrie we come to see beauty in the tragic, humor in the absurd, and sensitivity from the susceptible. It is in fact an apologetic to the ordinary lives we live. Those of John Tibbits and Robert Guthrie are inexplicably intertwined; and, it is only until the end, do we learn how. For both it is a journey through their own private battles.

Set in the 1930's his life is full of hope, a rare commodity given that the world is plunged into the Great Depression. He receives a scholarship to MIT and is ready to embark on his great adventure....only thing is no one knows exactly how big an adventure it will be. Before he can matriculate, he is shanghaied by a female pirate and is forced into indentured servitude aboard a rum runner. His life is first stolen, then over the course of exploits cast upon the ocean, is found again. During his travels, he is accompanied by a man who becomes his friend, guardian, and we learn at the end of the story is in fact a man of a surprisingly different nature. Throughout the book there are many historical references, some intentionally distorted in order to connect the dots of the storyline in a plausible and entertaining style. Allure of the sea has been an inspiration in the writing of this book, and readers can expect to find numerous references to its many faces and to those who have made it their home.
