As the second part in The Journey series, Equality Is Just an Illusion continues to illuminate the historical reality of African Americans in the United States over the past two centuries, with an emphasis on the effects of whitewashing and the strategic cover-up of America's racist past. With the threat of banning Critical Race Theory and many culturally significant books in schools, the need to safeguard historical truth is more necessary than ever. In addition to chronicling the plight of Black people in America, The Journey, Vol. 2 highlights the incredible accomplishments and milestones of Black men and women who are rarely known and never discussed in history books. About the AuthorDonald B. Armstrong is a retired military veteran who witnessed several things early in his career which left him with questions about equality. More Than Free: Exposing the Lies Hidden in History is a unique look at 4000 years of history through the eyes of the author's family tree. This text builds the case for a new world view whose foundation is that of truth and morality never described in another publication. It shows us that our history is not what we've been taught and indoctrinated to believe. In fact, we are supposed to believe that we don't know where we came from and who our ancient forefathers and mothers really were. People are hungry for the truth, and this book delivers plenty of it. We have to ask ourselves why? Why was our history disconnected to anything that was taught to us in high school and college? What is the root cause of hiding and obfuscating our past? And who did these things? How did the settlement of Europe happen, and where did these people originate? Why did they migrate, and who expelled or chased them? How did America become the land of exceptional people with a unique and free perspective? Where did the idea of personal freedoms originate, and how did the people of America regather in this land? This book explores all of these questions, and upon exhaustive examination, research, and sagacity, a mind open to connecting the dots has found and documented the answers. About the Author: James Jensen was born in Rapid city, South Dakota. He currently resides in Weatherford, Texas where he runs a small hay farm. He is also an archer, upland game hunter, a researcher, and a writer. Jensen has four children and eight grandchildren. He is retired from the practice of landscape architecture in a global engineering and environmental consulting business focusing on utility-scale electrical projects. Jensen achieved technical writing expertise in preparing dozens of Environmental Impact Statements and related public-review documents.

As Henry Ryman Miner began to grow older, he noticed a subtle increase in forgetfulness, like going to another room and forgetting what he came for. He began to undertake various forms of mental exercise in an effort to improve his memory which led him to engage in the practice of memorizing and reciting favorite and newly discovered poems, a practice that he combined with cycling in the Oakland hills. Gradually his collection of memorized verse grew to reach one hundred poems. Broken into three parts, Miner first details his process for memorization, explaining in detail his methods and strategies. In part two, he lists all one hundred poems and includes his thoughts on each, reflecting on its place in the chronology of his life. Now familiar with his personal process and poems, Miner, in part three, explains the science behind memory, memorization, and the brain, proving and disproving some of his own methods in part one.A fascinating read on the realities of memory loss with aging, and the power of poetry, Miner's One Hundred Poems and the Brain blends science and art into one engaging, thoughtful mental exercise.

Domenic Migliore has no interest in making you feel better. Entering his world comes with risks. But, then again, so does living in ours. His writing is a cracked rock bouncing down a grungy hill: the speed of the descent leads to blur; the accumulation of nasty debris is unavoidable. In one tale, a father tells his son, "You don't go fudging around with the factory presets." In Migliore's storyworlds, the presets are as unreliable as experimentation with them is. In either case, things fall apart. You're likely to laugh at some stories, cringe at others, and skip some passages that are too uncomfortable to imagine. But you're unlikely to forget the experience of meeting artist and filmmaker Migliore's cast of weary, ill-fated souls. They ought to be in movies. And probably will.-- Bill Obesrt Jr. (from Rob Zombie's 3 FROM HELL, TV's THE ROOKIE: FEDS and Criminal Minds) "...a memorable batch of moving tales. Migliore's short story collection dishes out dread, violence, and gallows humor in equal measure... The author's tales navigate through such bleak territories as homicide, nuclear strikes, and other assorted crimes. It's hardly surprising that violence marks many of the stories, from bites and stabbings to meticulously detailed head shots. But Migliore deftly leavens the heaviness with satire... The author displays a knack for direct, concise sentences that stoke the narrative pace. While well-drawn characters pop up throughout this collection, the cast is largely aloof or hateful. They spew homophobic, xenophobic, and generally offensive slurs and sentiments that complement the savage acts they perpetrate. Readers won't sympathize with most of them, particularly the nasty American soldier stationed in Japan who seems to detest everything and everyone (The Tattoo). Stories such as these aren't prone to happy endings, but that doesn't make the book predictable."- Kirkus ReviewsDomenic Migliore is a writer, filmmaker, photographer... A suburban robot that monitors reality.

Learning Gross presents the core concepts of how to succeed as a student or professor in an essential Gross Anatomy class. Dr. Forbes goes where no one else has gone - to the inner workings of an excellent Human Anatomy course - and describes in detail the rare experience of a semester spent exploring the human body. Learning Gross is a valuable tool for succeeding in a Gross Anatomy class. In felicitous prose, it is a meditation on what it takes to present and receive an excellent Anatomy course, deftly assembled and stuffed with facts and information. Those concepts are presented with clarity in a comprehensive format, for easy reference by the reader. If you are a professor, this book can transform the way you present your class. If you're a student, how will you approach the sheer volume of information presented in a Gross Anatomy course? This book will help you retain the content of the course throughout your matriculation, and into your clinical practice. The book discusses learning the physical anatomy. Then, with an imaginative wit, it presents, between each two chapters, a little of the metaphysical, embodied in a trenchant conversation with one of the donor bodies in his laboratory. Unlike other books about cadaver courses written by laypeople attending a Gross Anatomy course, this book is written by an academic who has spent his life in that milieu. It is a special perspective, one that equips the writer to present you with practical, authentic advice on what it takes to succeed. Excerpt from the BookFor most people, what's inside the body is a great mystery. Haven't you found that to be so? Most people entertain vague ideas about where organs are located, what they do, and how they work. But for those of us who study human gross anatomy, it's different. For those of us who have the splendid opportunity to explore the body for ourselves, to actually see for ourselves the beauty and grace inside the human body, and to learn its secrets in order to better serve our patients, it's a compelling, once-in-a-lifetime revelation. Ours is a uniquely privileged study, and that study would be impossible except for the unrequitable thoughtfulness of people we've never met, who had the charity to give to us what was their most intimate home for seventy, eighty, ninety years. We begin that study as strangers - strangers to the human body and strangers to each other - and we invariably finish as good friends to both. I'm happy you haven't missed this rare opportunity. And someday, when you're really old, twenty, thirty, forty years after you graduate, when you've achieved your goals and you are a practicing healthcare professional, you will have occasion to get a whiff of formaldehyde, and that will cause you to remember. You'll remember the Anatomy Lab, the names of your lab partners and instructors, and your donor body. And you'll reflect on what is called the "music" of the Anatomy Laboratory: the sound of learning, the sound of discovery, the sound of students teaching other students, all throughout the room. And you will recall that lovely aroma in the lab. And here's the thing: when you remember, you will smile. I promise you will.

About the BookIn the provinces of Terra Y'cromeca, an ancient battle over husbandry of the land interlocks two primordial gardens. Dark abysmal waters in the cold of the north, house a blasphemous garden. From this garden springs forth an arcane power to dark forces, thus paving the way for a cruel regime to rule over the Y'cromahein people. Isolated from these powers in a desert world far away in the West, a simple and rustic folk follow the wisdom of a kindly Gardener, the guardian of Terra Y'cromeca. But what need is there to guard against? While the turmoil of slavery and war plague the Y'cromahein in the north, the Gardener's age-old nemesis lurks and schemes, plotting to fulfill his oath of vengeance upon the land. In this age, where ancient forces burst to new life, the numinous seeds of the Garden of Ages are pitted against the corrupt weeds of the Dark Garden. Ripples of chaos from upheaval in the north wreck devastation and ruin across Terra Y'cromeca. In their wake, destiny finds unlikely heroes in a young shepherd, a grieving father, a self-serving Tribune, and a young girl of mysterious lineage. Guided by the Gardener's wisdom and supported by the warriors of the desert, they will strive to form one last defense against great darkness.About the AuthorSamuel R. Rodriguez Jr. was forged under a scorching sun, in the rugged desert of West Texas in 1968. He grew up with a love for cinema, ghost stories, and a deep passion for history and various cultures. The more distant a culture may be from his roots, the more curious he was to learn about them and embrace them. His love for all things mysterious led him on a life-long journey into the worlds of cryptozoology, Kabbalah, and Eastern philosophy. In 1977, his life changed with the cinematic release of Star Wars: A New Hope, thus the excitement of wanting to create his own fantasy story was birthed from that inspiration so long ago. Since then, the story of Y'cromeca has morphed, changed, and shape-shifted into the story that you read today. This book was crafted decades in the making.
