The first publication on Houseago's new painting series, also featuring journal extracts and texts by Nick CaveLeeds-born, Los Angeles-based artist Thomas Houseago (born 1972) is best known for his sculptures that combine traditional (wood, plaster, clay and bronze) and less conventional (steel cables, canvas and cement) materials. During the last couple of years, however, Houseago has started painting, with liberatory results. Vision Paintings charts his recent foray into the medium, presenting a wide selection of both figurative and abstract artworks created between 2020 and 2022. The book features various large-scale series (including the Vision Paintings, California Love Songs and Vortex Paintings). Thematically, Houseago is drawn to nature, drawing on landscapes in Malibu, Big Sur and Yosemite for evocations of cosmic unity and the cycle of life. The volume--the first entirely dedicated to his paintings--is punctuated by close-ups, citations, pages from the artist's journals and writing by the musician Nick Cave.

473,95 kr. A dialogue between two virtuosos of formal simplicityIn 1990, Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957-96) visited Roni Horn's (born 1955) solo show at MOCA Los Angeles and saw for the first time her iconic 1982 work Gold Field--a thin piece of gold foil placed on the ground, without any cordon or protection. Deeply affected by the simplicity, strength and beauty of the work, Gonzalez-Torres met Horn in 1991 and told her of the impact the piece had on him. A few days later, Roni Horn sent him a square of gold foil as a mark of their burgeoning friendship. Later, in response, he created "Untitled" (Placebo - Landscape - for Roni), a carpet of candies wrapped in gold cellophane, available for visitors to take. In turn, Horn replied with Gold Mats, Paired - for Ross and Felix (1994-95), this time with two pieces of gold foil placed atop each other. This volume celebrates their friendship, reproducing installations, photographs and sculptures.

A sumptuous guide to a major new art museum in Paris, designed by Tadao AndoOpening in May 2021, the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection is a major new contemporary art museum in Paris. It houses the collection of François Pinault--which includes works by Urs Fischer, Maurizio Cattelan and Philippe Parreno--in the city's former stock exchange, restored and redesigned by Tadao Ando, who has reshaped this unique building into a setting where ancient and modern materials coexist. La Bourse de Commerce retraces the history of this venue, from the origins of its construction to the present, and reproduces sketches, archive documents, photos of the various stages of the work and in situ views. This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of an emblematic monument transformed into a contemporary art museum, designed to exhibit, share and inspire the collection that Pinault assembled over the course of more than 40 years.
