The first retrospective monograph on filmmaker, artist and graphic designer Mike MillsGraphics Films is the first retrospective monograph on one of the hardest-working men in contemporary creative culture. For more than 15 years, Mike Mills' works in the fields of design and film have determined the visual landscape of our times. Graphics Films is a painstakingly produced document of Mills' career to date, including many never-before-seen examples of his works in graphic design, installation, publications and film projects. Past projects by Mills include music videos for Air ("Sexy Boy"), Blonde Redhead ("Top Ranking"), Yoko Ono ("Walking on Thin Ice") and Bran Van 3000 ("Afrodiziak") and album cover designs for the Beastie Boys (the Root Down EP), Sonic Youth (Washing Machine), Air (Moon Safari and Kelly Watch the Stars) and others. He has designed graphics and textiles for Marc Jacobs and created the identity for X-Girl Clothing, and has exhibited his unique graphic installations worldwide, with solo shows at Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York and Colette in Paris, among others. In 1996 Mills cofounded The Directors Bureau, a multidisciplinary production company, with Roman Coppola. Since then, he has directed an impressive slew of music videos and films including The Architecture of Reassurance (2000) and Paperboys (2001), both of which were official selections at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2004 he completed his first feature film, Thumbsucker (starring Keanu Reeves and Tilda Swinton), and he is currently at work on his second.

The setup is classic and familiar: a table draped with a white cloth, a dish of fruit, a sugar bowl. Yet instead of the meal awaiting an unseen viewer's consumption, as in a classic still life, Laura Letinsky photographs what remains on the table after the food has been eaten, leaving only crumbs, melon rinds, a cantaloupe pocked with rot and a half-finished lollipop. Letinsky explores the inextricable relationship between ripeness and decay, delicacy and clumsiness, waste and plenitude, pleasure and sustenance. The influence of Dutch-Flemish and Italian still-life paintings--whose exacting beauty documented shifting social attitudes resulting from exploration, colonization, economics and ideas about seeing as a kind of truth--can be seen here as well. In "After All," Letinsky explores photography's transformative quality, changing what is typically overlooked into something splendid in its resilience. Poet Mark Strand contributes an essay to this marvelous volume.

Indian haute couture is conquering catwalks worldwide. For many, Indian fashion conjures multi-colored saris and gold embroidery, but the designers featured in this volume are turning that cliché on its head by creating global styles without losing sight of tradition. This book documents the scene, with an in-depth look at designers as diverse as Fightercock (a collaboration between Abhishek Gupta and Nandita Basu, who claim on one of their t-shirts that "The Revolution must wear Fightercock"), AtpuG varuaG (who won Breakthrough Designer of the Year at the MTV and Zoom Style Awards in 2006) and Kavita Bharthia (who is known for both Indian and Western styles, impeccably finished on handlooms, which incorporate cottons and silks, scarves, stoles and knits). Other featured designers include Gayatri Khanna, Anamika Khanna, Small Shop, Anuj Sharma, Ashish N Soni, Ayesha Depala, CUE, Deepika Govind, Drashta Sarvaiya, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Manish Arora, Nachiket Barve, Namrata Joshipura, Nimita Rathod, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Prashant Verma, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Ranna Gill, My Village, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Savio Jon, Shantanu & Nikhil, Shantanu Goenka, Swapnil Shinde, Varun Bahl, Wendell Rodricks and Bounipun. Contemporary Indian Fashion offers a host of experimental techniques for textiles, pattern cutting and sculptural draping, as well as the mixing of natural and synthetic fibers and unlikely juxtapositions such as jersey or chiffon with leather.

This collection of haunting photographs was made at a series of Italian hospitals for the criminally insane by Bologna-born photographer Claudio Cricca. The subjects of this Humanity Photo Award-winning project are "playful, menacing, absurd, tortured, disoriented, stoic, angry; in short, with a full range of human emotions..." Cricca has contributed to The New York Times, National Geographic, The Herald Tribune, USA Today and Italian GQ.

JR and José Parlá's street celebration of Cuba's eldersSince 2004, the French artist JR has traveled the world flyposting colossal black-and-white portraits of ordinary citizens on the walls of city buildings. His most recent project, The Wrinkles of the City, began in Cartagena, Spain, where he photographed the city's oldest inhabitants, imagining their wrinkles as metaphors of urban texture and history. He has subsequently reprised the project in Shanghai, China and Los Angeles. In May 2012, JR collaborates with American artist José Parlá on the latest iteration of The Wrinkles of the City: a huge mural installation in Havana, undertaken for the Havana Biennale, for which JR and Parlá photographed and recorded 25 senior citizens who had lived through the Cuban revolution, creating portraits which Parlá, who is of Cuban descent, interlaced with palimpsestic calligraphic writings and paintings. Parlá's markings echo the distressed surfaces of the walls he inscribes, and offer commentary on the lives of Cuba's elders; together, JR and Parlá's murals marvelously animate a city whose walls are otherwise adorned only by images of its leaders. This volume features the portraits, short biographies of their subjects and photographs of their mural collaborations painted around Havana. A film documenting the project appears in 2013. Based in Paris, JR exhibits freely in public sites in the cities around world. His projects include Portraits of a Generation (2004-2006), Face2Face (2007) and Women Are Heroes (2008). In 2011 he was awarded the TED Prize. José Parlá studied painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, and the New World School of the arts in Miami, and lives and works in Brooklyn, new York. a recent project is a special commission for the Brooklyn Academy of Music. His most recent monograph is Walls, Diaries and Paintings (Hatje Cantz, 2011).

This volume compiles all of the photographs from Terry Richardson's wildly successful 2012 show Terrywood, held at the OHWOW gallery in Los Angeles. Terrywood is the photographer's vision of everything that Hollywood has meant and continues to mean in the public imagination: grand-scale glitz, big-budget glamour--and of course the awards ceremonies, in homage to which Richardson produced a series of ten award statuettes for the show, fashioned in his own bespectacled likeness. These works and all of the photographs included in the exhibition are reproduced here, alongside documentation of the year-long process of planning the exhibition, and coverage of the opening night, which was attended by celebrities such as Tom Ford, James Franco, Odd Future, Sasha Grey, Paris Hilton, Paz de la Huerta, Jared Leto, Lindsay Lohan and Frank Ocean, and which has already become legendary as one of the glitziest opening nights in recent memory. Terrywood also includes texts by Jeffrey Deitch and Al Moran. Born in New York City and raised in Hollywood, Terry Richardson took up photography while attending Hollywood High School and playing in a punk rock band. His work has been the subject of numerous group and solo shows throughout the world, and he has published several monographs, beginning with Hysteric Glamour in 1998, followed by the print retrospective Terryworld and most recently, Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson.
