148,95 kr. FEW AUTHORS CAN WRITE IN SUCH A KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ENGAGING WAY about topics as diverse as Tennessee politicians, lawyers, and community leaders such as Lamar Alexander and Bill Haslam; important Supreme Court decisions; foodie favorites like Benton's Bacon, banana pudding, wine pairings and coffee selection; parenting tips and making holidays special from the perspective of a working "swim mom"; shoes from high heels to Chuck Taylors; sports of all sorts, many from a Big Orange perspective; health pointers; TV, movie, book and music reviews and recommendations; cars; and pets; and countless others. In this book, award-winning author Angelia Nystrom has done just that with easy-to-read, down-to-earth, humor. While the book is so captivating that you will want to read straight through, because it is comprised of a series of articles that read like short stories, you can also take it along to read when you have a few minutes of unexpected downtime. If you know Angelia, you already understand why this book is such a page-turner, but for those of you who don't, let me introduce you. ---Cynthia "Cindy" Richardson Wyrick, United States Magistrate Judge

123,95 kr. Jody Dyer slaps humor on everyday life as skillfully as a veteran line cook throws country ham on a flat top grill. Readers compare her to Lewis Grizzard and Fannie Flagg, but Dyer has a unique, modern, edgy voice with Appalachian roots and universal appeal. In Theories: Size 12, readers gain a new perspective on marching bands, zoos, sports parents, teachers, outdoor weddings, tailgates, bicycle guys, and much, much more. Dyer says what we're all thinking but afraid to say, and she does so with a rare combination of fearless wit and literary finesse-a combination as lip-smacking good as pinto beans and cornbread. In Theories: Size 12, Go On, Get Mad, But You Know You'll Agree, readers will find a friend, and many laughs, on every page.

133,95 kr. Ta'aroa's Light is based on the true story of UTA Flight 589 that occurred in 1985. It is appropriate for any age child. In the early morning darkness, a UTA French Airlines DC 10 pilot, in route from Los Angeles to Tahiti, was informed just after the halfway point in the flight over the Pacific, that an onboard bomb was timed to explode before the flight could land at its destination in Tahiti. The story is told from the point of view of a ten-year-old girl named Jillian who is flying with her family. Since she has trouble sleeping on airplanes, she witnesses the event unfold while her family sleeps. The heroic pilot remembers a runway built on the French Polynesian atoll of Rangiroa, the second largest coral atoll in the world, located 190 miles from Tahiti in the Tuamotu archipelago of French Polynesia. The runway is perfect except for a few minor details: there is no control tower, no electricity, and, therefore, no runway landing lights. This is an inspirational story based on the heroism of a pilot and the altruism of a small French Polynesian village, resulting in a child overcoming her fear.

113,95 kr. This book is dedicated to my father's baby brother, Private Burnette Lewelling, lovingly called "Little Bud" by his family of four sisters and three brothers. He was unmarried and worked on the farm like a lot of men did during this time. Burnette joined the military. He was only 26 years old when he died on September 10,1942, in India. The initial report and newspaper article said he lost his life in the line of duty. After several letters back and forth with military, the family learned that Burnette shot himself in the head. Military personnel confirmed that he suffered from depression. From his letters, the family knew he missed home. It is hard to pinpoint the exact cause of depression. Some blame a chemical imbalance, and some say there's an abnormal cell connection. After reading all of his letters and the family members' responses, I felt a sense of longing and sadness that I never got to know him. By writing this book, I want to honor him as well as others who have depression and can't find a way out. Through my book, I hope that you will look for God and find faith to see you through. If my work helps one person, I will feel elated. Please pass these pages on to others.
