Dane Cross, he liked the sound of that, simple, direct, easy to spell, easy to remember, enigmatic. A life of deception can't have too many complications or explanations. He was a man for hire, private investigator, bouncer, anything this side of legal. Trained as a black op in combat with a license as a Private Investigator he was equipped for many rolls, most of them quick and dirty. Always the guy from out of town. He had no recorded past, not even fingerprints. He'd travelled the back streets and alleys in the worst districts of the world. What he'd seen, no one should see, no one should experience. The reality was that crime exists everywhere. The removal of low-life crooks was his obsession. So-called, Dane meets Red, owner of 'The Playmate' strip club who is also an expert in martial arts. She's intelligent, creative, compassionate, and beautiful and they share many of the same interests. After the club is attacked by an outlaw motorcycle gang and a biker is killed Dane and Red become equal partners. They realize that their photographs have been circulated internationally and their lives will always be clouded in danger. Gradually, the realization dawns on them that their mutual respect and admiration has turned to love and mind-blowing sex. Follow their journeys around the world as they take from the rich and give to the poor.

Jerusalem circa 970 BC is on the verge of catastrophe. The king is dying, who is to succeed him? In order to stave off disaster he moves decisively and elevates the promising young Solomon. Guided by the steady, if not cranky, hand of his trusted advisor and spymaster, Mehuman, Solomon sets about building on his father's legacy. Early in his reign there are glimpses of his brilliance. A brilliance that is tested time and time again, forging the quintessential philosopher king. Solomon is a scribe in his father David's kingdom in Jerusalem. One of many princes, he holds no aspirations to his ailing father's throne. This all changes when his brother, Adonijah, allows himself to be inveigled by the wily commander, Joab. In order to stave off likely unrest David moves decisively and with a bit of prodding from Bathsheba elevates the young Solomon to the highest office in the land.Guided by the steady, if not cranky, hand of his trusted advisor and spymaster, Mehuman, Solomon sets about building on his father's legacy. Early in his reign there are glimpses of his brilliance. A brilliance that does not go unnoticed and he's soon summoned to Tanis in Egypt by the pharaoh Siamun who rules over a divided kingdom. An alliance is formed, cemented by Solomon's marriage to the pharaoh's daughter, Itawy. Solomon wastes no time in forming another, more fruitful, alliance with Hiram the convivial Phoenician king of Tyre who embraces him as a brother and the two grow to treasure the mutually beneficial partnership. So much so that Hiram dispatches his favoured master mason Hiram Abi to Jerusalem to aid Solomon in the construction of his temple and various magnificent projects. When Ezron, a brutal Aramean warlord seizes Damascus and proceeds to wage war across the region Solomon finds himself playing the role of mediator for the kings of the Levant. His deft handling of the crisis earns him the epithet 'The Axis of The Levant' and his stature as a wise and just ruler grows immensely. Solomon's alliance with King Hiram proves testing at times with one adventure seeing him venturing to Utica where he's met with a formidable adherent of an ancient order. He manages to gain the upper hand against this fearsome warrior but no sooner than he returns home he's faced with another crisis in the form of the death of his father-in-law, Pharaoh Siamun which causes alarm that his alliance with Egypt may be in jeopardy. These fears are soon allayed once he gets to know the new pharaoh, Psusennes.Despite Solomon's wealth, prosperity and acclaim his life is haunted by tragedy and the death of his first-born son, Mordecai sees him spiral into a morose depression from which he never properly recovers. Pharaoh Psusennes's reign is an uneventful one and when he dies a powerful Meshwesh commander, Sheshonk ascends the throne bringing about a new dynasty. Solomon finds his mettle is thoroughly tested, culminating in an assassination attempt. What follows is a tense standoff between his nascent kingdom and the long-established Egyptian empire. Over time Solomon becomes increasingly withdrawn until towards the end of his reign when Menelik, a son he knew never existed arrives in Jerusalem. Not only does the charismatic Menelik restore his jaded father's hopes, the king's subjects are soon enamoured with him and implore him to stay. Unfortunately, Menelik chooses to return to his home in Axum and their hopes are dashed. The sorrow is too much for the ailing Solomon and he dies within weeks of Menelik's departure.

In comparison with the original, the wildflower edition of Walking through the Forest: love, loss & other tall trees boasts more than 40 new poems, several revisions, an author's note at the beginning and a new chapter at the end. The manner in which the story is told has been reorganized to have better flow but carries the same heart- within are poems about trauma, heartbreak, healing, learning & love.

Protecting corporate assets from security breaches is a compelling concern an organization's productivity, brand reputation and consumer confidence can all depend on it. Implementing proper information security measures is also the first step towards minimizing production down time due to system failure - one of the primary goals of every organization.During the author's extensive experience as a system and security administrator for numerous large and medium-size companies, it was not unusual for operation and production management to prohibit the installation of any third-party applications - "unsupported" freeware and open-source applications for hardening security, especially on production machines. This was partially due to strict policies from vendors providing operating system support. It was also because of company security policies prohibiting downloading from the Internet and installing any applications that have not been thoroughly tested, regardless of how well these applications can secure the production box. Therefore, in many cases you will not be able to use any third-party tools. This book was written to help system and security administrators set up a secure UNIX operating system environment by using the native capabilities of the "pure" operating system. As you read this book, you will learn that with your knowledge of the operating system and information security, it is possible to do a great deal to create a "hard" operating environment by using only the tools and utilities that come bundled with UNIX.This book not only discusses security measures, but actually shows you how particular measures can be implemented. Use it when you need a practical solution for a security problem.

Mike Buffalo and Brad Hall have stalked Al-Qeada and the Taliban in the mountains and canyons of Afghanistan. They have hunted ISIS in the hills of northern Iraq, and saved the life of a sitting President. Their days as Special Operators in the Canadian Armed Forces are now behind them. New opportunities as contractors with Valley Forge Security, a specialized firm providing security to governments and NGO's in war zones around the world, await.All-out war erupts on the Korean peninsula. The North Korean leadership has initiated a sinister plan to keep American forces out of that conflict. Two men find themselves in the path of that plan. Two good men, with families and women who love them. Two men who have forged a bond of great friendship in the crucible of war. The forces of evil wish to open the gates of Hell in a small Montana town, and two good men must hold those gates at all costs.Readers met Hall and Buffalo as they closed a final chapter of 9-11 along a forgotten northern border of "Afghanistan." They returned to play a major role in "Montrose County." Now, the intrepid duo must face the fight of their lives only miles from home. Out-manned and out-gunned, they must rely on their own courage and resilience, and the willingness of the people of a small town, to stop a catastrophe that will cripple America. The Prairies Book Review calls "Buffalo At The Gates" a "heart-pumping, nerve-wracking story with a riveting ending you won't see coming...", "a lit stick of dynamite that Greenwood dares the reader to put down."

This book is a great addition to the full corpus of Canadian wartime naval history. The author describes the puzzlement and shocks of a youngster joining a highly organized (by 1943!) force, and takes us on a very personable, often humorous voyage from basic training to on the job experiences in galleys at large working bases. Hospitalized a couple of times with infections and even a tonsillectomy, she manages to give us, from memory, notes and a scrap book, the story of what it was like for those not at sea. From the latter we have had a shelf-full of tales; this is a unique picture of another life. Much illustrated, both with wartime snap shot photos, posters and ship's routines, there are also at the back several recent photos of Margaret herself and other Wren events of recent days.
