In 1898 Camillo Golgi reported his newly observed intracellular structure, the apparato reticolare interno, now universally known as the Golgi Apparatus. The method he used was an ingenious histological technique (La reazione nera) which brought him fame for the discovery of neuronal networks and culminated in the award of the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1906. This technique, however, was not easily reproducible and led to a long-lasting controversy about the reality of the Golgi apparatus. Its identification as a ubiquitous organelle by electron microscopy turned out to be the breakthrough and incited an enormous wave of interest in this organelle at the end of the sixties. In recent years immunochemical techniques and molecular cloning approaches opened up new avenues and led to an ongoing resurgence of interest. The role of the Golgi apparatus in modifying, broadening and refining the structural information conferred by transcription/translation is now generally accepted but still incompletely understood. During the coming years, this topic certainly will remain center stage in the field of cell biology. The centennial of the discovery of this fascinating organelle prompted us to edit a new comprehensive book on the Golgi apparatus whose complexity necessitated the contributions of leading specialists in this field. This book is aimed at a broad readership of glycobiologists as well as cell and molecular biologists and may also be interesting for advanced students of biology and life sciences.

This collection consists of selected scientific results stemming from the conference "Methusalem Workshop on Classical Analysis and PDEs", held at the Ghent University from 27th February 2023 to 1st March 2023. The workshop was organized by the "Ghent Analysis & PDE Center". The presented materials mainly consist of scientific results on classical analysis and problems of PDEs. In particular, results on harmonic analysis, functional spaces, functional inequalities, inverse problems, non-local PDEs, non-classical problems of PDEs, integro-differential equations, hypoelliptic operators, pseudo-differential calculus, and others are given.

It considers the histories of individual items of the Russell Collection, their previous locations and owners, and explores ways in which annotations, underlinings, hand-drawn diagrams, and the like reveal patterns of reading and usage. Finally, it seeks to elicit more information on a previously under-researched topic: the historical role of mathematics in the extensive network of Irish colleges that once covered Catholic Europe, located in places such as Salamanca, Rome, Douai, and Prague. Alongside delivering important new insights into print culture as a medium for transmitting scientific ideas, Mathematical Book Histories is thus also intended to contribute to a broader understanding of the role and significance of mathematics in the context of clerical instruction and more broadly in the academic tradition of Ireland up to the beginning of the twentieth century. Januar 1981 gehalten wurden. Das Spektrum der Vortrage reichte von der klassischen Approximations theorie tiber mehrdimensionale Approximationsverfahren bis hin zu praxisbezogenen Fragestellungen. Zu den zuerst genannten Gebieten gehorten z. B. die Verfeinerung von Fehlerabschatzungen bei der Polynominterpolation, Fragen zur Eindeutigkeit, Charakterisierung optimaler Interpolationsprozesse und Algorithmen zur rationalen Interpolation.
