It is a story of a family feud healed by young love. The story is based on a factual event involving the notorious Hashknife gang of Northern Arizona. The story follows an ancient feud between two frontier families that is inflamed when one of the families takes up cattle rustling. - "Seventeen years ago miners working a claim of Belllounds's in the mountains above Middle Park had found a child asleep in the columbines along the trail. Near that point Indians, probably Arapahoes coming across the mountains to attack the Utes, had captured or killed the occupants of a prairie-schooner. There was no other clue. The miners took the child to their camp, fed and cared for it, and, after the manner of their kind, named it Columbine. Then they brought it to Belllounds." - Zane Grey, "The Mysterious Rider" - "A face haunted Cameron--a woman's face. It was there in the white heart of the dying campfire; it hung in the shadows that hovered over the flickering light; it drifted in the darkness beyond." - Zane Grey, "Desert Gold" - Zane Grey (1872-1939) was an American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories that were a basis for the Western genre in literature and the arts. With his veracity and emotional intensity, he connected with millions of readers worldwide, during peacetime and war, and inspired many Western writers who followed him. Grey was a major force in shaping the myths of the Old West; his books and stories were adapted into other media, such as film and TV productions. He was the author of more than 90 books, some published posthumously and/or based on serials originally published in magazines.

It tells the story of the love between Nophaie, a young Native American (or American Indian) man and his love for and with a woman by the name of Marian Warner. It was first published as a serial in the 1922 run of the Ladies Home Journal, a periodical that had over a couple million subscribers at the time. In 1925, it was then published as a novel and adapted for the screen, a cast that included Geronimo's grandson in a supporting role... (Tiffany Apan)

Feeling that it had been several years since he left, Daren finally returns home to America, but soon realizes that it is not the home he remembers. Others have been able to move on from the war, causing Daren to question if his sacrifice of service was even worth it. Though he is attached to the ideals and behavior popular during the Victorian era, the rest of American society have moved on to the frivolous and fun attitude of the roaring twenties. When Daren notices that his younger sister is participating in this culture, drinking underage, gambling, and taking drugs, Daren is repulsed. Feeling that it is immoral and irreverent, he vows to put a stop to it. While organizing a way to combat his community's declining morals, the young soldier receives a troubling diagnosis due to an injury that he sustained during the war. While coming to terms with this discovery, Daren decides to dedicate his time to mentoring the youth, attempting to reform their behavior. With themes of cultural and generational divides, The Day of the Beast by Zane Grey is a somber and intriguing narrative that depicts a soldier's complicated integration back into civilian life. Written with descriptive and moving prose, The Day of the Beast is emotional and provides a unique and rare perspective on the cultural change of the roaring twenties. Adding to the fascinating discussions of this historic period, this Zane Grey masterpiece is captivating and relevant to a modern audience. This edition of The Day of the Beast by Zane Grey now features a new, eye-catching cover design and is printed in a font that is both modern and readable. With these accommodations, this edition of The Day of the Beast crafts an accessible and pleasant reading experience for modern audiences while restoring the original drama and depth of Zane Grey's work.

223,95 kr. Author of more than sixty popular, highly-influential Western novels, Zane Grey was born "Pearl" Zane Gray. Although no one knows for certain, it seems likely that Grey thought that "Pearl" was too feminine a name for an author of Western adventure. Zane was Grey's family name, and he was intensely proud of his Western pioneer heritage. His first-published book, Betty Zane (1803), was inspired by the true story of Revolutionary War frontier heroism in his family. Grey's early books about his own family were not commercially successful. Beginning with his first Western novel, The Heritage of the Desert, Zane Grey launched upon one of the most influential writing careers in American history. The Desert of Wheat was first published in 1919. It tells the story of Kurt Dorn, a young American wheat farmer who is torn between saving his farm and defending the woman he loves, and defending America during the First World War. Kurt does eventually choose to go to war, where he realizes how futile and destructive warfare is.

We may know that he was an inductee to the Hall of Great Westerners of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. But the thing you really need to know about The Rainbow Trail is that it's the sequel to Riders of the Purple Sage, which may well be Grey's most-remembered work. Here John Sheppard is a preacher who becomes good friends with the Venters -- who always seemed haunted. Eventually, Mr. Venters reveals that he was once a horse rider for a woman named Jane Withersteen -- a rich Mormon -- and her adopted daughter Fay Larkin. However, Jane's churchmen were displeased with her association with non-Mormons -- and the evil Mormons drove them into a narrow valley and trapped them there. Venters had always intended on returning to the valley to search for the Jane and Fay, circumstances have prevented him from doing it. John Sheppard is fascinated by this story and wants to what he can to relieve the haunted look he sees in the eyes of Mr. and Mrs. Venters -- so he attempts to discover what happened to Jane and Fay. He discovers that Fay Larkin may still be alive -- and that her life has become the stuff of adventure, including kidnapping! And that somehow she has the strength to survive the most terrible of circumstances. . . .
