Kassan is tormented when he learns what his lover had done to his family. Master Igen saves Kassan from the fire and keeps him at his side. Laone, the forsaken daughter of the Banan family, also presents an arrangement that might be convenient for the people at the Zakador estate. With the harsh winter arriving sooner than expected and the Queen Mother's gargantuan army in proximity, Igen, Kassan and King Asakin will face grim challenges.

King Asakin and Caesar are worried that Igen, the only heir of the Zakador clan, has chosen a man as his lover, thus endangering the survival of his clan.
