He discusses his continued involvement with his village, Roth, and his trips to there with his wife, children and grandchildren through which he has come to terms with his family's tragic past.

This volume contains some portraits of Jews who played significant roles in Chicago's historic meatpacking industry, from the points of view of both labor and capital, as well as portraits of lawyers, scholars, and participants in significant constitutional law cases. The book also contains some of the author's book and theater reviews first published in the Chicago Jewish History quarterly.
