Que se passe-t-il derrière les murs d’un commissariat ?Pour répondre à cette question, Valentin Gendrot a mis sa vie entre parenthèses. Il a suivi la formation de l’école de police de Saint-Malo et a fini par atteindre son objectif : devenir policier dans un quartier populaire parisien.Durant six mois, Valentin a intégré le commissariat du 19e arrondissement de Paris. Une arme à la ceinture, le journaliste sous couverture a rejoint une brigade dont certains membres tutoient, insultent et distribuent régulièrement des coups à des jeunes hommes noirs et arabes qu’ils surnomment “les bâtards”. Valentin Gendrot ne cache rien. Il relate la précarité des conditions de travail, le suicide d’un collègue du commissariat, mais aussi les propos racistes émis par des agents de l'État, les bavures, la violence.
