Der Antifaschismus gehört zu den zentralen Politikfeldern und Identifikationsmerkmalen der PDS, die sich im Vorfeld der Bundestagswahlen 2005 in "Die Linkspartei" umbenannt hat. In der Studie werden die Geschichte des Antifaschismus in Deutschland sowie seine Bedeutung für die Ideologie, Organisation und Strategie der Postkommunisten analysiert. Der Autor bewertet die Politik der PDS aus antiextremistischer Perspektive, also aus der Sicht des demokratischen Verfassungsstaates. Inwieweit nutzt der PDS-Antifaschismus der Demokratie? Inwieweit schadet er ihr? Die Arbeit zieht dabei einen Vergleich über den Umgang mit Rechtsextremismus zwischen CDU, CSU, SPD, FDP und Bündnis 90/Die Grünen einerseits sowie der PDS andererseits.
