What is Pennsbury Pride? For the purpose of this book, one aspect of school pride is reserved for alumni who served in the military over the past seventy-five years. The school's alumni have fought in wars ranging from WW I to Afghanistan, marching forward into the never-ending battles of our complicated modern world.Pennsbury's community has always taken pride in its veterans. This book tells us about a few of them, in their own words. The book also informs us that Fallsington High (Pennsbury's predecessor) had several World War I veterans, led by Carol Christman, Class of 1897.Three career veterans-Staff Sgt. Wayne Rogers (Class of 1997), SFC Jim Tams (1977) and Lt. Colonel Jacqueline Siciliano (1983)-lead off Pennsbury Pride with personal histories of their military service in Operation Enduring Freedom. The middle section of our book features stories about grandparents, parents, and uncles who joined up for World War II and Vietnam. Kevin Lendo (1966) writes about how he and his brother Art (1964) became involved in a chase for information on their uncle John Lendo, who perished in December 1944 when his plane was shot down during a bombing run over the Pacific Ocean. By some miracle, the Lendo brothers found the plane their uncle trained on stateside. The Lendos have endowed a Fellowship Program at Pennsbury in honor of their family's military veterans. The book ends with three chapters that reinforce the connection between Pennsbury's veterans and the school itself. One chapter speaks to the "Operation Christmas" gift drive for Lt. Joseph Yatsko's troops in Vietnam. Another details the creation of the Wall of Honor in 2001 and the scholarship fund started by Pennsbury veterans to reward students in the school's Junior ROTC program. Our book closes with a list of 579 veterans who at one time patrolled the halls of Pennsbury High. - TERRY NAU

Pennsbury Forever is a nostalgic look back at a high school in Bucks County, Pennsylvania that grew exponentially in the 1950s as the Baby Boomer generation advanced from kindergarten through graduation. The rapidly growing suburban communities forced parents, school administrators, and school board members to proactively act on long-range goals. The school district had to keep pace with the population explosion, passing bonds to build new schools to contain the overflow as the 1950s turned into the 1960s.This book features stories written by teachers, administrators, and students, looking back 50 and even 60 years to capture the essence of a high school that still binds old friends together. Although Pennsbury opened a new high school in 1966, the former high school pictured on the front of this book still exists as a junior high, which is why we have named this book, Pennsbury Forever. Our old school lives on!

Told in the voices of Vietnam veterans looking back on their war, Proud Americans is an oral history of the 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery unit that served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1972. The 2/32, nicknamed the Proud Americans, fired the first 175 millimeter rounds in the Vietnam War. The unit stayed in Vietnam for seven years, refreshed by more draftees and enlisted soldiers. From rescuing other American soldiers, to the Tet Offensive, to surviving 42 days of mortar attacks, the veterans share their personal stories of service. Bonds, slow to form, became unbreakable as black, Hispanic, white, and immigrant soldiers became brothers. Proud Americans honors the sacrifices of those who never came home and those who did. Reflecting on their journeys to and from Vietnam, these veterans share an intimate view of their dangerous service. About the Author Terry L. Nau (pronounced NOW) is a Vietnam veteran and former Pawtucket Times sports editor from 1982-2012. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native served in the war zone from September 1967 until September 1968 with A Battery, 2/32 Field Artillery. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1972. Upon retiring from newspaper work, Nau turned his attention to Vietnam and self-published three books. The first, Reluctant Soldier … Proud Veteran, focused on his personal journey towards understanding the role Vietnam played in his life. In 2015, Nau published his second book, We Walked Right Into It … Pennsbury High and the Vietnam War. This book told the story of 15 former students at his high school alma mater who were KIA in the Vietnam War. One year later, Nau published his third book, They Heard the Bugle's Call, which dealt with the tragedy of 21 former residents of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, who were KIA in Vietnam. This book served as a fundraising device that resulted in the installation of a Vietnam War Memorial in the city. Nau's latest book, Proud Americans: Vietnam Artillery Soldiers… Then and Now, deals with a happier topic, the overall arc of the lives of Vietnam veterans who served in the 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery between 1965-72.
