  • - Doctor John Williams Last Legacy
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

This little work is one of the more notorious tracts of herbal and folk medicine of its era. Written in the early 19th century, it contains dozens of receipts (recipes) for medicinal cures and a short index of medicinal plants and their usage. Within the realm of folk magic and the occult this is one of the more physical branches of interest; it should be noted of course that many of these medical products are potentially dangerous and many rely heavily on a few dozen components; among which notably are rum, wine, chamomile, tobacco, and molasses.

  • - A Conference betwixt Philochrysus and Philadelphus
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

"On the Philadelphian Gold" is a late 17th century tract originally produced by the Philadelphian Society- a mystic and philosophical school of sorts. The content herein is partially philosophy, partially alchemical. Regarding alchemy it theorizes the spiritual existence of perfected matter. It is written in the form of dialogue between Philochrysus and Philadelphus, whose conversation eventually uses several religious premises to prove its content.

  • - Reality Manipulation
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

"Occult Memetics" is more than a description of the concept of information transfer. It is a brief hand guide to constructing and using propaganda in spiritual forms, and to manipulating reality. Those who understand the concepts within this work, should they choose to apply them, can potentially change the views of others without even a single spoken utterance. It delves well beyond merely propaganda itself into the nature of reality and its core form.

  • - Second Edition
    af Tarl Warwick
    83,95 kr.

After the Ashes, first released in 2015 and now re-released in 2018 as a second edition, is more than a standard apocalyptic survival manual. Speaking of subjects related to survival of the individual is one thing, but the survival and rebuilding of society is another. Speaking of sub-topics which most books overlook, such as the decontaminating of soil, overlooked but important preparations for a nuclear war, and the importance of social cohesion and psychology, After the Ashes seeks to increase the odds that at least a few pockets of mankind quickly repair and redevelop after the likely coming struggle.

  • - Reminiscenses of Aberdeenshire
    af Tarl Warwick
    93,95 kr.

This book is an interesting compilation of odd lore encountered by the author as a youth in Scotland. With more than a few references to kelpies, hags, and other oddities, it is not solely about spiritual topics, but is important as local mythology regardless.Partially humorous, some of the stories in this work are as hilarious now as a century ago- related to madness, marriage, and other funny topics. It ought to be noted that the author is slightly disdainful of some spook stories related to the very young as causing unnecessary fright.

  • - Thanatology and Other Essays
    af Tarl Warwick
    128,95 kr.

This book is a collection of various essays and speeches on the topic of medicine and medical history from Roswell Park at the dawn of the 20th century. Delving into the evil eye, the Knights Hospitaller, history of surgery, and more, it touches on occult topics frequently, history constantly, and what would now be considered quack medicine occasionally.Advocating the use of cocaine as a pain killing agent and speaking at length even about military matters, "The Evil Eye" is highly useful and interesting now even as it must have been a century prior.

  • - A Tract Against an Absurd Ideology
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

Communism is often mentioned even now long after the extinction of many regimes claiming the title; the Soviets, Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, and many more. In retrospect, observing human history and biology, what can be said regarding this system? I here delve into my own judgment of the same; its weaknesses and failures, why its offshoots are almost as unreasonably bad, and the central problem with Marx and his own theories, why, specifically, he built a philosophical system so completely lacking in merit.

The study of the concept of atheism, or of heresy, irreligion, and related topics, is a fascinating one; and this particular work, initially an oratory series of lectures, focuses on the idea within ancient Greece and in Greece after the culmination of Roman occupation. It is a dense topic. The idea of mere improper worship in a civic sense has to be differentiated from abject disbelief itself, and the evolution of philosophy goes hand in hand with the concept; from Anaximander, and Xenophanes, then Socrates- drinking hemlock after being condemned- through Diogenes and others. A bit of linguistics is studied here as well due to the differential interpretations of words such as "Daemon." The importance of rituals in the sense of being "proper" is key in many passages here.

The veneration of Abraham Lincoln as a mystic is not original to the early 20th century but technically began shortly after his death. Modernity largely has smiled upon this topic within the occult, with an eye especially to premonitions and dream interpretation; this work is, while short, deeper in the sense of delving into more of the spiritual miscellania of Lincolns' life. While this book displays an element of Germanophobia (then in vogue, with the Kaiser as Satan incarnate to some peoples' minds), it is quite good as a compilation of opinions and events regarding Lincoln in the religious or more broadly mystical sense.

  • - For the Use of All Ages
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

Frays Golden Recipes is a domestic tip book that exemplifies the late 19th century. Produced in new editions well into the 20th, it is almost a direct descendant of the grimoires which came a century before, divorced only of ritual magic. It contains life tips, herbal recipes, and medical advice. It might be appropriately deemed part folk medicine. Herbs employed here range from iceland moss and skullcap to pennyroyal.

  • - The Natural Order
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

For thousands of years man has pledged his mind towards the task of creating utopia; is it able to be achieved? Regardless, can states be improved from their general modern form by any means? The natural tendency towards change over time is in accordance with scientific principles- this tendency has for some time been a disadvantage with governance and society- I submit that it can be tempered and advantageous. I here say that states can be improved more easily than most people believe.

  • - Assembly of the Philosophers
    af Tarl Warwick
    83,95 kr.

The Turba Philosophorum is one of the greatest and most well regarded texts within all of alchemy. Written around 900AD, it was quickly accepted within the chemical lexicon of the age and proceeded to vastly influence most later works. It combines veiled and metaphoric dialogue with interjecting explanations thereof delivered in the form of conversation. The subject matter ranges from the meaning of alchemical terms, to the creation of Tyrian dye, to the refining of chemical compounds, to criticism of the vulgar, or, as the Turba terms it, the envious. It treats the subject of the philosophers' stone at great length.

  • - Suggestion
    af Tarl Warwick
    83,95 kr.

Charles Gilson created this book at the dawn of the 20th century. It proposes suggestion be used in a medicinal context, both on oneself and others. Some of the proposed uses (tobacco and alcohol addiction, for example) are still in some use today. Others, such as the use of suggestion for the symptoms of lead poisoning or goiter, less so.It is of interest to note that the author of this work was primarily known (even esteemed) for fictional works. This particular entry is, of course, meant to be instructive.

  • - A Tract Against Propaganda Masquerading As News
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

"Against Corporate Media" is a short manuscript laying bare the excesses and corruption of the long-established and centralized dissemination of information and news that comes from television, newsprint, and other largely monopolized forms of technology. Here, we can see the degrading interplay between a stagnated media and a stagnated political climate. What is the future of media? What role will social media on the internet play? These questions here are addressed, and television and newsprint corporations here find no friend.

Originally released in 1935, Frithjof Fischer's (Wulf Sorensen's) work "Voice of our Ancestors" has been conflated with an early Heinrich Himmler writing and not without good reason; the quasi-mystical and obvious folkish overtones (here explicit in nature) fit in well with the latter's own philosophy. As the world approaches the same level of alienation and misery which preceeded the Second World War, once again such literature is as before finding its audience, and the silent voices of the past, for good or for ill, are once again heard.

  • - Companion of the Frugal Housewife
    af Tarl Warwick
    93,95 kr.

The Family Nurse is a great little work; a collection of various herbal and folk medicine alongside some simple (mostly health related) tips and tricks straight from the 1830s. Almost two centuries old, it is perhaps most notable how a few of the medical inclusions here are still accepted in some form today- leeches utilized for health purposes, etc. It is an early notable example of applause for deliberate exposure to cow-pox in order to prevent smallpox infection- a major contributor to human health in that era. While many of the cures and treatments here are strictly dated and should not be used, much of the lore is innocuous and herbal- the latter which comprises a fairly decent guide to the use of some common plants.

Yardley's compilation here on Romantic Fiction is more a broad overview which seeks to compare and correlate prior works, than it is one flowing work in its own right. Drawing together folklore as widely separated as the Norse Sagas and then-modern poetry, it points to various literary traditions and supernatural (and occult) tropes and plots within the Gesta Romanorum, Arabian Nights, and many others. This work can serve as a good springboard into additional study into folklore, since it lists so many secondary works.

  • - US Department of Agriculture Bulletin 26
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

At the dawn of the 20th century, the western world embarked on campaigns to increase the industrial and agricultural output of their domains; none more than the United States, which produced a series of informational bulletins such as this one to supply farmers with a bit of side income as they removed pestilent weeds or cleared land. The psychotropic and potentially medically active characteristics of plants listed herein are well established- nobody denies the symptoms of ingesting datura or hemlock. Such knowledge, a mere century prior, was often considered spiritual or arcane. Despite being largely displaced by more standardized medicine now, certain plant species are still harvested for use to this day in many parts of the less developed world.

"In Ghostly Japan" is a fine collection of stories from the land of the Rising Sun, compiled before the industrialization of the latter day Meiji Restoration erased much of the classic folklore of the nation of Japan. Lafcadio Hearn, the author of this work, compiled many works on Japanese lore and literature in his life, but "Ghostly Japan" is the most occult, and one of the most interesting. Here we see tales of jealous ghosts, reincarnation, lanterns for the dead, and little folk sayings in Japanese with various spiritual and otherworldly meanings. Games involving incense coexist with tales of ghostly paramours in this volume, which was created at the dawn of the 20th century.

  • - Their Origin and Development
    af Tarl Warwick
    113,95 kr.

Puckle's "Funeral Customs" is one of the more in-depth looks at death ever penned. Created in the early 20th century, it casts a rational and skeptical glance at the superstitions of burial practices and cremation alike, and lists in some detail the customs of death over time and changes to them during the black death and then-modernity among other eras. Not just a European work, it delves into Hinduism as well as Egyptian and Zoroastrian practices from antiquity. From the memento mori to funeral feasts, its pages are filled with interesting folklore, astonishing history, and more than a few bits of graveyard humor.

  • - Astrological Medicine
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

Fusing medicine and astrology together, the astrological physician is one of the strangest works of the 17th century. A precursor to later, more lasting attempts at mixing the spiritual and the scientific, a rudimentary observation of stars and planets is all that is needed, according to this work, to diagnose and treat illness. Using the theory of the humors, it also proclaims the ability to determine whether a malady is caused by demons or witches.

  • - Book of the Chemical Art
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

The Book of the Chemical Art, ascribed to Marsilius Ficinus, provides one of the most in depth accounts of alchemical philosophy ever created. It is a philosophical treatise, as those of antiquity, listing its way through objections to alchemy, refuting its foes as well as superstitions prevalent at the time not accepted by the literate mystics of the era. It culminates with a section dedicated specifically to answers on such subjects supposedly derived from the conversations held between one Illardus, a Catalonian necromancer, and the Devil himself, which is here considered to give credence to the entire manuscript.

  • - Dream Book
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

Through the 19th century and well into the 20th, quack medicine was often coupled with spirituality. No manuscript shows this on more full display, perhaps, than Doctor Pierces' Dream Book. This work combines dream interpretation with medical testimonials and recipes. A symbol of the late 19th century, the work of Pierce involving supposedly herbal remedies combined with an almost Frankenstein-esque fixation on then-modern science fuses together the old and the new in an era of consumption and superstition.

  • - There Are No Witches
    af Tarl Warwick
    78,95 kr.

"The New Burning Times" is a sociopolitical reaction to the witch trials. Not those of the past, but those rearing their moralistic head currently, as we end the 2010s and enter a new decade. Through propaganda, those in power are steadily lying to the population and trying to convince them that this time, witches are real; and they must- as always- be persecuted. These same groups seek to make money and eliminate their independent adversaries through deplatforming, while using family friendly sounding slogans to shield their own corruption. They pretend their defamation is a legitimate activity of the press, mocking opponents as "fanatics."With more than a few logical fallacies and the will of well meaning but brainwashed masses on their side, and with most of the population unwilling to intervene, the authoritarians of our age- Silicon Valley, lobbies, banks, and political factions- seek to project their own malevolent, totalitarian designs on vloggers, indie musicians, and small websites, because there are no witches left to blame for the problems that they themselves actually caused.Hold up the light of truth and the ghost of extremism turns out to most often be nothing but a wisp of curtain.

  • - Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and the Occult
    af Tarl Warwick
    83,95 kr.

ASMR has been sparsely studied in the recent past; a phenomenon inducing "tingling" or other effects, often from certain sounds, although it can also in some cases be triggered by touch, or the other senses. The similarity between ASMR now and mesmerism in our human past is key here; mesmerism began as a sort of amusing parlor trick, only to be adopted as useful by science and in magical workings; likewise, this may become the case with ASMR, which has similarities not only to manifestations of the chakra as noted in Vedic lore, but also the serpent fire, lucid dreaming, and a host of other experiences explained here.

"The Incubus" is a very early rational look at the concept of sleep paralysis and nightmares, with a bit of lore related to the night-stalking incubus (a demon associated with disturbing sleep.) With its herbal remedies and technically medical look at waking dreams and similar phenomena, it is at once technically outdated (scientifically) and for its era, forward-thinking.With some secondary sources (occasionally in Latin) mentioned and quoted, Wallers' work touches on a subject which remains debated to this very day.

This little booklet is a sympathetic Theosophical view of the life of the famous (and sometimes infamous) Helena Blavatsky- a woman of many talents. Depending on the person making the judgment, she was either a mysterious fraud or a great visionary. Regardless, she was a person of significance in her era and remains relevant and enigmatic to this day. This work chronicles, in brief but detailed form, her life from childhood to her death, with material from besant, Sinnett, and other such figures attendant.

"Secrets of Animal Magnetism" is a work involved mostly with mesmerism in the sense normally utilized in the era of its manufacture. Containing numerous secondary references, it delves into sociology and behavioral science as well as expressing a general acceptance of hypnotism and similar practices as applied to healing first and foremost, and self improvement in a more general sense, secondly. Some of the claims made here are largely rejected now by science, however it should be noted that the use of mesmerism is, in the case of some individuals, real and potentially of a helpful nature.
