LOOK er den iransk-amerikanske digter Solmaz Sharifs (f. 1983) første digtsamling. Bogen blev udgivet i 2016 og har vundet en række priser, samt været indstillet til National Book Award. I LOOK digter Sharif med udgangspunkt i hendes families krigs- og eksilerfaring som flygtninge fra Iran. Det militære og det hverdagslige fletter sig sammen, hvorfor for eksempel en suite med breve til en elsket ”Salim” er censureret, som af efterretningstjenesten. LOOK er dybt indfiltret i den amerikanske krigsførelse både i Irak og Afghanistan, men i lige så høj grad den hjemlige ”krig mod terror”. Sharif lader ikke digtningen foregå ”i fred”, som oversætteren Cæcilie Højberg Poulsen skriver i efterordet. Krigsførelsen og dens konsekvenser er konstant tilstede i sproget, emnerne og de radikalt varierende koncepter som gennemløber bogens digte. Særligt bemærkelsesværdigt er Sharifs gennemgående brug af den amerikanske militærs egen ordbog. Hæren ajourfører nye og operative termer som ikke er en del af hverdagssproget, men som er formelt i anvendelse i hærens enheder. Disse ord digter Sharif med og lader dem invadere hverdagen med en uhyggelig fremmedgørelseseffekt til følge. Dette sproglige arbejde er ikke blevet mindre prægnant af oversættelsen, hvor Cæcilie Højberg har måtte konsultere den danske hærs ordbøger, Hærens Taktiske Ordliste og Hærtaktisk Ordliste. Oversættelsen fremhæver det danske militærs forviklinger med det amerikanske, samt synliggør, hvordan det militære og hverdagslig sprog kolliderer og belyser udbredelsen af krigsførelsens logikker.
