The statistical information contained in this book is the result of ten years' research by the author. The Cup-Winners' Cup was the last of the three European club competitions to be founded and here you can find out the the line-ups, referees, attendance figures and the scores.

This work is a match-by-match statistical record of the UEFA Cup which began in 1971 as a replacement for the Fairs Cup. It contains full line-ups and statistics for every match played in the competition between the years of 1971 and 1991.

The underlying idea behind the creation of the Fairs Cup was the provision of inter-cities matches to entertain and promote international sports relations. During the life of the Cup, 13 competitions took place during which a total of 1,036 matches were played by 207 clubs. Full statistics of these matches are contained in this book.
