The Battle For Elder Home is the prequel to the Elder Chronicles. It relates the story of the peaceful Roeni people when they were nothing more than simple gatherers and how they eventually became 'The Elders'. When the 'Strangers' arrived to claim the Roeni planet as their own, they hatched a devious plan to force the Roeni to destroy the very food they lived on. But the Strangers carefully hid their terrible true intentions. Before the Strangers could complete their plan, a child came of age who said, 'No!'; and who backed up her speech with action. The Strangers had seriously underestimated the Roeni.

The leaders of the world's governments have not heeded the many, obvious clues that the planet was in trouble. As long as they could control their individual areas, they were happy. They had long given up the idea of taking over another area; they had enough trouble just ruling their own. The people, true to the animals they were, had continued doing what animals do best - breeding. The current population was beginning to outstrip food and material production. Life wasn't so bad in Area 2, which had more land than it could use, even if their population was double that of any other area. Area 3, for the moment, had enough land to cope; but that was not going to last much longer. Area 5 had more land than it could use; but much of the land was uninhabitable desert. In that area poverty and disease kept the population under control. Areas 1 and 4 were in the worst shape. They had each initially prospered. Farming and industry had made great strides. With the exception of a few uninhabitable areas, the cities and farms had expanded to cover all of the available land. Now they each had too many people and too few resources, and the future offered no hope of any improvement. These two major governments, pressured by over population and a lack of resources, resorted to a time honored method of resolving their problems: WAR!

Enela, because of her human socializing, does not fit in well with the other elders. She becomes something of a rebellious teenager. She and Ari-Ana have several conflicts. In an attempt to understand Enela, Ari-Ana talks Red Hawk into delving into her mind and memories. Enela frequently leaves the elder village and goes to a nearby butte that used to house a tribe of cliff dwellers. There she meets Mary Gauss whose father is conducting an archeological "dig" at the butte with his class of college students. Enela and Mary become very close friends. Mary shows Enela a special hidden room at the butte. Enela and her friend Hila subsequently investigate the room and discover a star map and a hole leading to a cavern inside the butte. Enela and Hila decide to investigate further. Enela goes down through the hole to discover what lies below and stumbles upon a alien space craft. They also find some papers written in Eldertongue which Enela manages to decipher. Enela eventually gets permission from Ari-Ana to explore the craft in more detail. What they discover sets the stage for a grand showdown among the Elder Councilors. Enela's infatuation with Mary becomes the focal point for an all-out attack on the Elder community.

When the farm the Lisa and Nela were establishing came to an untimely end, Lisa and her child, Enela, attempted to flee back to the butte. After a long cross-country trek, she had the butte in sight. At that moment she was struck by a semi driven by Joe Carpenter. Joe discovered that Nela's baby had survived the accident and took her home to live with him and his wife. When Mary discovered that Nela was not the sweet little human baby she originally thought she was, life became very strained in the Carpenter household. At first Nela spent her time learning about humans and the typical human environment. She had several interesting adventures and gained the knowledge she would later require to save the Elder people from utter destruction. After several years with the Carpenters, Nela was faced with a situation too terrible to endure. She was forced to make a decision that could lead to her ultimate death or permanent confinement.

Welcome to the world of the Elders where the management of time and distance is child's play. The Elders were an ancient people living a calm and peaceful existence in a far corner of the universe. When one of their transports accidentally happens upon an interplanetary war, they find their people targeted for slavery or the dinner table. A lone transport captain dares to suggest a way out of the dilemma and becomes the focus of an internal squabble that threatens the life of everyone on their planet. During the final escape a small group of Elders are set adrift in space. They are pursued by a determined enemy, but a banquet table saves the day. Then comes the daunting task of establishing a new life on a very strange world.

Mary Gauss buys a lottery ticket with the numbers provided by Enela and was the sole winner of a multi-million dollar jackpot. She subsequently moves to Albuquerque, New Mexico and studies nursing. When her daughter, Joanne Elena (aka Jo E.), is 10 years old Mary suggests that she attend the Rockin-R's dude ranch for the summer. Joanne is not eager, but eventually agrees. All goes well until the ranch hands take a trip to Wakulla on horseback. On the way to Wakulla, Joanne experiences some pains and fears she is having her first menstrual period. When she arrives in Wakulla, she collapses in pain. Little Dove, who has stopped in town on her way home from work, takes charge. Red Hawk and Billy Eagle intervene. When Joanne disappears, the owner of the Rockin-R calls in the FBI.

Sam Archer was looking forward to his last day with the Tucson Police Department prior to retiring. Tucson was suffering under a deluge from summer storms and accompanying traffic crashes. Among the storms he finds a young girl walking naked down a major highway. The girl doesn't want to communicate with Sam, so he takes her to the Tucson hospital where his wife, Joanne, is employed in the mental health department. Joanne discovers that the girl isn't human just as the girl's mother shows up at the hospital with the sheriff of the local Indian reservation. Joanne releases the girl to her mother, but is intrigued and attempts to follow up on the reservation. She learns that the only way she can meet with the girl or her mother is to become a tribal shaman. Joanne accepts the challenge and is suddenly faced with a program of training and tests that costs her job and places her life in serious danger. When she surprises everyone and becomes a shaman, she comes face-to-face with the Elder community and finds that things may not be what the seem.

Ever since the untimely demise of his predecessor, Homeland Security Secretary Alan Burke had at the top of his agenda locating the people who had caused that punitive executive order. He sends a request to the NRO to provide him with current satellite photography of the entire US and personally reviews each package that is sent to him from completed missions. One package, covering southern Arizona, finally produces something of interest. He sends out an order for the local FBI office to investigate. Tom Watson takes on the investigation and unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of the Elder Village. He reports that there was nothing of interest at the coordinates, but Burke was not fooled. In a few weeks he visits San Diego to watch the commissioning of a new guided missile frigate. After the ceremony he meets briefly with the Captain on board the ship. Fred Winston invites Tom to the big naval exercise that was about to begin. He and Tom watch the commissioning ceremony. But things don't quite go as expected. Tom Watson suddenly finds himself in a frantic race to warn the Elders of possible impending danger and to locate and stop the Frigate. The whole plot is finally exposed, just as the Frigate launches its missiles.

Birth of a Savior is the the second volume in The Elder Chronicles. The Elders are an ancient humanoid race that were stranded on Earth a thousand years ago. Until today they have managed to live in secret, well hidden from the human population. Now it is 1983 and it is necessary to reduce the size of the original colony by establishing new colonies among the humans. Lisa and Nela are two Elders who travel to Arkansas to run a small farm. Along the way, they encounter several strange situations when they try to interact with the humans and many problems once they finally settle down on the farm. There is both humor and pathos and all actually is going pretty well, until the local population reverts to its barbarous roots and strikes out at the Elders.This book also describes the birth of Enela, who will grow up to be the future savior of her people.

The elders who had left the Valley through the wormhole find themselves in a hot desert environment. No discernable sky, no vegetation, no water. They explore the area and discover they are in a large cell. Those that had been killed or wounded start disappearing. Ari-Ana confesses everything. Enela comes face to face with their captors. She succeeds in convincing them to provide the Elders with the necessary water. In preparing for an autopsy of a dead Elder the captors helpers let loose ravenous bacteria that infect almost all of the local population. In time the infection begins to spread throughout the alien society. Before their captor dies, he gives Enela the key to their cage and frees them. The elders find themselves on a small island on which they also discover a Gray scout ship, such as the one in the cave back on Earth. An alien arrives with an ultimatum that the elders leave the island, but are put off by Enela and a small show of force. The Elders want to use the alien ship to generate a wormhole back to Earth, but lack the necessary coordinates. The alien leader returns with an absolute ultimatum: the Elders must leave the island, or else. Enela is faced with a scant two days to establish a wormhole that will take the Elders back to Earth. But what surprise will Enela find if she does get back to Earth? Enjoy the thrilling conclusion to the Elder Chronicles.

Naomi and Serina were stationed in Washington, DC. as Elder Sentinels. Naomi sees an article in a weekly gossip magazine indicating that some person survived being hit by a bus. The article hinted that the survivor might be an alien. A quick check with the Kaleidoscope revealed that all known Elders were accounted for. Naomi and Serina decide to check out this person, just in case. They go to the hospital to which the young woman had been taken only to find that she had been transferred to a federal hospital at Bethesda, MD. Fearing the worst, Naomi and Serina go to the hospital, find the girl and help her to escape. Naomi and Serina subsequently learn that she is the daughter of one of the first surrogate mothers from the Academy. She has most of the Elders' capabilities, but has not been trained in their use. If the girl was not some weird permutation, then the other participants in Elena's Plan could be expected to give birth to daughters like her. And, if the Elder genes were dominant, they could persist for generations. With all these possible Elders walking around all over the country, even all over the world, sooner or later the government would get wind of them and there would be major problems. Naomi and Serina hatch a plan the might just prevent that from happening. Their initial plan involves the President of the United States. Subsequently, they find themselves being pursued by Homeland Security and the District Police.
