In today's twenty-first century, we live in a world of perfect means, but confused goals. The crisismomentarily is unpredictable as politics - and uncontrollable as inflation. It is the breakdownof morality and discipline in the family. Behind this background, "The times are confusing",and young people everywhere are searching for a standard to believe in, an example to follow, anda world they can relate to. We must accept that Society can only be as strong as the family.Regrettably, as you look around at our fellow human beings, you find it hard to ignore the factthat very few are fulfilled and leading focused lives. Most of them are unable to cope with theirproblems and the circumstances of daily living.Resignation to mediocrity has become a way of life. The feeling of inadequacy causesthem to blame society, people, circumstances and surrounding conditions for their failure anddisappointments. The idea that people and things control their lives is so ingrained in their thinkingthat they normally will not respond to coherent arguments.With the world presently experiencing enormous changes, the importance of the family iscrucial. Nations are hostile to each other - churches philosophically disagree and censure eachother - parents are antagonistic towards children and children are defiant against parents. It is forthese reasons that the protection of the family is ensured and that the family positively motivatesour children for a better future.Our two main goals as parents and leaders should be to help the children gain self-esteem andself-discipline, along with teaching our youth the advantages of self-discipline.We cannot afford to incarcerate everyone who breaks the law, so we must, ourselves, be shiningexamples of good. If democracy is to survive and its precious strength are not to be strangled byinternational and internal chaos, then we must get on with the work of constructively analyzingour family system.
