Der Altphilologe Raphael Kühner (1802 - 1878) erlangte v. a. als Grammatiker internationale Bedeutung. Hier erwarb er sich besondere Verdienste in der Klassischen Altertumswissenschaft.Die hier vorliegende Elementargrammatik "nebst eingereihten griechischen und deutschen Übersetzungsaufgaben und den dazu gehörigen Wörterbüchern, sowie einem Anhange von dem homerischen Verse und Dialekte" war für den Schulunterricht konzipiert und erfreute sich großer Beliebtheit.Nachdruck der 21. verbesserten Auflage aus dem Jahr 1862.
