255,95 kr. Ekskluderende design er byrumsdesign, der ekskluderer mennesker fra at bruge bestemte steder i byen. Det kan f.eks. være bænke med armlæn midt på, høj musik og skarpt lys, som forhindrer hjemløse borgere i at tage ophold. Sammen med aflåste parkeringskældre og baggårde er det en del af en udvikling, som de senere år har gjort byrummene mindre tilgængelige for mennesker i hjemløshed. Forbud mod "utryghedsskabende” lejre og tiggeri har siden 2017 medført bøder og fængselsstraf til mennesker, der sover og tigger på gaden. I kombination med kommunale soveforbudsskilte har lovændringerne ført til en de facto kriminalisering af hjemløse borgeres livsopretholdende adfærd og strategier. Udviklingen er udtryk for, at design og jura har forenet sig om at skubbe mennesker i hjemløshed ud af offentlige byrum og ud af syne. Selvom de forskellige tiltag typisk retter sig mod bestemte former for ophold og adfærd i byerne, oplever mennesker i hjemløshed den konkrete eksklusion som tilbagevendende møder med skilte, der siger: Ingen Adgang. Denne bog sætter fokus på udstødende faktorer i byrummet.
