Beyond the Beam follows on directly from the earlier novel and explores the ongoing relationship of Hal and Amanda on their journey around the world in their junk rigged ketch "Kwan Yin". After Amanda`s impulsive insistence on calling at Bimini, where Hal has a strange experience, they then go to the Yucatan, the land of the Mayas, where it is Amanda`s turn to undergo something quite odd and frightening, which causes them to abort the voyage and return to England. The two books, which actually are one, are a tale of past loves and past civilisations and of an ancient house in Devon which exerts an influence on both of them. It is a tale of deep love and where Amanda at last discovers the name of the old man who has haunted her visions and whom she now believes is the spirit of Hal and the Elizabethan sea captain. It ends in a tragic yet upbeat conclusion and with speculations about the well known end of the Mayan Long Count, which came in 2012 and its possible outcome.

Fancy Running is a guide to Fancy Dress Marathon Running written by Philip Rose, an experienced runner who has completed many marathons and holds a Guinness World Record for running the London Marathon. The book is a guide for novices and experienced runners and contains hints and tips on how to make the most of the experience of running in costume. It contains 13 chapters that take the reader on a journey from costume and race selection through training including both mindset and physical. It gives readers the information they need to enable them to choose to run in fancy dress and to raise money in the process.

Thoughts on what has been called The Ancient Wisdom and on some of those thoughts which have occupied the minds of men over the centuries. This book is a collection of short writings dating from 2006 when I was 81 years old and which I privately published over the next eight years as a series of small booklets. They proved quite popular and I was asked to collect them into a single volume. This is it.

The Beam is a love story, centring round an old beam in Devon, the owner of the house containing the beam, and a woman marine researcher. Then, after a dramatic incident while together at sea, they finally set off to sail around the world...
