"Voyages in Vans: A Traveler's Guide to RV Life in National Parks" is a guidebook that is an excellent choice for those individuals. This book is a wonderful resource of knowledge, insights, and recommendations for people who are new to exploring this one-of-a-kind mode of travel as well as those who have been RVing for years. The book is, at its core, a celebration of the freedom and joy that comes with life on the road, with a particular emphasis on the great national parks that are located across a variety of locations. From choosing the appropriate vehicle and equipment to gaining a grasp of the complexities involved in navigating diverse terrains, the author delves into the practical aspects of traveling in a recreational vehicle (RV). There is a plethora of information available regarding how to make the most efficient use of space in a van, how to keep the vehicle in pristine shape, and how to guarantee a trip that is both safe and fun.The book's investigation of national parks in great depth is the most important part of the title. The parks are brought to life through evocative descriptions that highlight the distinctive landscapes, fauna, and recreational activities that each park offers. 343,95 kr. An idiosyncratic guidebook to architectural (and other) wonders of Italy, accompanied by the author’s own witty illustrations. In Some Reasons for Traveling to Italy, architect Peter Wilson offers a Grand Tour of Grand Tours, providing an idiosyncratic guidebook to architectural (and other) wonders of Italy, illustrated by his own witty watercolors and sketches. Wilson chronicles the reasons that people throughout history have traveled to Italy—ranging from “To Be the Subject of an Equestrian Painting by Uccello in Florence Cathedral” to “To Rebuild Herculaneum in Malibu” (the desire of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty in the 1970s)—while giving readers a deeper understanding of Italy’s architectural habitat and cultural mythology. In Wilson’s narratives and anecdotes, place names function as talismans; the events may not tally with recorded history, or with the exact topographies of actual places. Wilson offers historical reworkings, appropriations, and an architect’s scrutiny of certain Italian tropes. He recounts that Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, set out “To Flee England Out of Embarrassment” after breaking wind when he bowed to Queen Elizabeth I; French novelist Stendhal went “To Discover an Anti-France”; and an English architect went “To Get Some Ideas for a Mausoleum.” At the first Venice Biennale of Architecture in 1980, a dapper architect found that he had come to Italy “To Fall Overboard in a White Suit,” the artist Cy Twombly went simply “To See,” and Wilson himself found that he was “Captured by the Ospedale Degli Innocenti,” enchanted by the sight of Brunelleschi’s architrave.

This book provides a timely overview of the latest research and methods in a variety of fields where recrystallization is studied and is an important factor. The main advantage of a new look at these fields is the rapid increase in modern techniques, such as TEM, spectrometers and modeling capabilities, all of which are providing us with far better images and analysis than ever previously possible. This book will be invaluable to a wide range of research scientists; metallurgists looking to improve properties of alloys, those interested in how the latest equipment may be used to image grains and to all those who work with frozen aqueous solutions where recrystallization may be a problem.

Stabilizing the metastable, supercooled state, or encouraging the associated process of nucleation have both been the subject of scientific interest for several hundred years. This book is an invaluable starting point for researchers interested in the supercooling of water and aqueous solutions in biology and industry. The book also deals with modeling and the formation subsequent dendritic growth of supercooled solutions, as well as glass transitions and interface stability.

238,95 kr. Have you been offered the opportunity to take part in a mentoring scheme, either as a mentor or mentee? What might this involve? How could it benefit you? What exactly is mentoring, anyway? A Greek by the name of Mentor stepped into the shoes of a King for the ten years of the Trojan Wars to develop his son for the responsibilities of the throne. These skills of mentoring have been nurtured over the centuries and are alive and well today in the development of our top leaders. Recent research shows mentoring is the most important source of learning at work after 'on the job' experience, and moreover it's a critical life skill for everyone. This book sets out what mentoring is, and how it's been used by Australia's best leaders in business, education, politics, public and sporting life. The vast majority had great mentors in their own lives, and all have now taken on that role themselves. Author, mentor and mentee, Peter Wilson, has spent over two years meeting and interviewing leading figures from politics and public life. In MAKE MENTORING WORK he shares their wisdom and advice. If you would you like to receive personal and career advice from two of Australia's three longest serving Prime Ministers, state premiers, a Governor General, Police commissioner, one of Australia's leading women CEOs, a world champion Wallaby Captain, the 2000 Australian Olympic team's flag-bearer, CEO of the Commonwealth Bank, Australia's first female Police Commissioner - among others - then step inside this book today. MAKE MENTORING WORK has general application for anyone considering the role of mentor or mentee.
