93,95 - 98,95 kr. Ghost Stories of an Antiquary is the title of M. R. James' first collection of ghost stories, published in 1904 (some had previously appeared in magazines). Some later editions under this title contain both the original collection and its successor, More Ghost Stories (1911), combined in one volume. Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936) was a medieval scholar; Provost of King's College, Cambridge. He wrote many of his ghost stories to be read aloud in the long tradition of spooky Christmas Eve tales. His stories often use rural settings, with a quiet, scholarly protagonist getting caught up in the activities of supernatural forces. The details of horror are almost never explicit, the stories relying on a gentle, bucolic background to emphasise the awfulness of the otherworldly intrusions.

88,95 - 118,95 kr. Two of these stories, the third and fourth, have appeared in print in the Cambridge Review, and I wish to thank the proprietor for permitting me to republish them here. I have had my doubts about the wisdom of publishing a third set of tales; sequels are, not only proverbially but actually, very hazardous things. However, the tales make no pretence but to amuse, and my friends have not seldom asked for the publication. So not a great deal is risked, perhaps, and perhaps also some one's Christmas may be the cheerfuller for a storybook which, I think, only once mentions the war.

39,95 kr. Wnętrza zapomnianych bibliotek i zakurzonych antykwariatów, skąpane w blasku świec. Wystarczy uchylić drzwi, by odurzyć się zapachem grozy. Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936) - brytyjski autor utworów grozy. Pracował naukowo na uniwersytecie w Cambridge, badał historię średniowiecza i biblistykę. Tłumaczył również księgi religijne, wydał apokryfy Nowego Testamentu. Na boku kariery uniwersyteckiej tworzył opowiadania przesycone niesamowitością - najpierw odczytywał je w kręgu znajomych, później zaczął publikować. W swojej twórczości wyszedł poza strukturę gotyckiej opowieści grozy - fabułę utworów osadził we współczesnych realiach, dzięki czemu czytelnik mógł bardziej utożsamić się z bohaterami. Inspirował takich twórców jak H.P. Lovecraft.

24,95 kr. Jest gotów, by stawić czoła Mocom Ciemności. Fantasmagoryczna wizja przywodzi skojarzenia z "Alicją w Krainie Czarów" Lewisa Carolla.Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936) - brytyjski autor utworów grozy.
