Stretching up the border of California the Eastern Sierra was a remote and desolate place; an unpainted canvas waiting to be filled with history. A few pioneers in the Inyo / Mono brought trout to these rugged mountains to satisfy an economic need and in doing so sparked the desire of sportsmen around the world. Michael Sharkey lives in Castlemaine, Victoria. Former teacher of literature and rhetoric, he is sceptical about the language of persuasion. As Augustine said, 'I have encountered many who want to deceive, but no one who wants to be deceived.'
