Lens Grinder's Shadow is multiple interwoven stories coming together on the backroads and hiking trails of Austria: On the one hand, in eight parts, a young man in a concentration camp style blue-and-white striped shirt walks from Bregenz to Innsbruck in hopes of spending a winter-to-remember in the Alps. On the other hand, in twelve parts, four women at major crossroads in their lives each in turn meet a young man accompanying a friend's casket to Nürnberg so her family can put her to rest. Elisabet is a singer suffocating from the business of song, Seannafair practices putting her poetry to music while looking for her big break, Natalie is tired of her second-class status in an academic world designed for men, and Greta is desperately trying to reimagine a life without her twin. Each lineage dances along the ridges and valleys of experience, at the end they are in the middle, bodies on this earth with spirits conveyed across distances, not relayed information, but pulse and breath, muscle and bone.

Global history has long become an established field of research. At the 11th conference of the working group on the Early Modern Period (Historians¿ Association, Germany), participants aimed at applying global-history approaches not only on distant world regions, but especially on early modern Europe. ¿Europe¿ has consistently been both a subject to and a concept of negotiation processes, which hardly kept to territorial borders or clear-cut topographically or language-bounded areas. The conference proceedings open up new views on geographical and historical imaginations of Europe from within and without, on claims of identity and alterity as well as on the mutability of periphery-centre relations. Moreover, they display the wide range of ¿ internationally well-connected ¿ historical research on the early modern period in Germany.

"The Indefinite Article: Anxiety and the Essence of Artificial Intelligence focuses on the implications of technological surveillance for human being. This study aims to make a contribution to the foundations of theological apologetics. In this, it seeks to determine the boundaries and possiblities of the apologetical process by orientating it to the quadruplicity of divine working.
