Ephesians is an epic book worth taking the time to study. At its core, the book of Ephesians is about The Power of Identity rooted in Christ Jesus. In this great book, Paul lays out a defining principle that can impact our lives if we let it: identity always comes before rules. Chris Jesus formed us and then wrote out a script for our lives. Before we were born, God designed a destiny for us. This destiny is not something we can create, it is something that we discover. We discover our future by going to him and learning from him that we are loved and accepted. Spend some time and go deeper into Ephesians. Get a clearer picture of the fact that grace is Jesus plus nothing. Grow in the knowledge of God. Grow in your identity. As you do, you will awake to the workings of grace and the transforming blessings of God in your life. And your life will change as a result.

We must learn that it is okay to set limits and boundaries. There is nothing unloving or un-Christlike for setting healthy, Biblically-based boundaries with other people. Boundaries are a part of anything that works, anything that is successful, anything that is orderly and anything that is healthy. Rivers flow in between river banks. The oceans stop at the shore. If there weren't river banks or ocean depths, if there wasn't a place for water to be contained, our whole planet would flood. God created boundaries for day and night. There is always another day, morning and night. God never lets a winter last forever-unless you live in Antarctica. Every season has to relent its grip. Boundaries are a part of God's creative design for the natural world. This means that boundaries are a part of God's creative design for mankind as well. Healthy people have established healthy boundaries-it's the only way to have a balanced life.

We are God's beloved children. God created us to be one of a kind, unique and talented. We are His masterpiece. Everything about how He has made us is incredible. The real joy in God's heart is not all the things that He does for us or that He gives us. The real joy is when we discover what He placed within us. The journey we go on to uncover what God has placed in us is the adventure of life. There are all kinds of surprises God has strategically determined for us to discover.At the end of his life, Paul wrote an Epistle from a jail cell, and he said, "Son, I have run my race, I have fought my fight. I have emptied myself out." He was satisfied that he obtained and fulfilled the calling that God had placed in his life. It is important when we talk about calling, ministry, and destiny that we don't just look at ourselves in the ministry. We need to recognize that everyone in the body of Christ has a unique calling, a unique ministry, a unique destiny. Some are called to work in the church. Some are called to work in business, government, art, media, entertainment, family, or education. Wherever called, the gifts will help you ignite your success. God has work for us to do, and this truth will help motivate us to find our calling. God has a destiny for us, and for every person that has ever and will ever live. Our destiny is in one of those cultural mountains. And our destiny as a believer is to go up the mountain in the grace of God. Who do we think He wants to ascend to the heights of the media, education, arts and so on? Us. His children. He wants born again people that want to bring God's kingdom.

Why study the book of Hebrews? Why now? What makes it so key and vital to your walk in today's day and age? What can a book written to Jewish believers thousands of years ago teach you today? Glad you asked. We live in a chaotic culture, one full of all types of belief systems. Agnostic. Atheism. Darwinism. Buddhism. Humanism. Wall Streetism. A lot of isms swimming around our society. Being a Christian doesn't make you immune to their ways of looking at and understanding life. If you watch television, read books, listen to music, you are getting a good dose of how these different systems of belief think you should live and who you should worship in this life. Look around you-we live in a very spiritual, religious society. The book of Hebrews was written to help the Jewish believers of their day navigate a culture that was drenched in spiritually as well. They had their rituals and customs and beliefs, all rooted in the Mosaic way of worship. But what had started out as pure religion, originating from God, became tainted, filled with man-made rules and regulations. The temple and the priests and the sin offerings could not perfect the people of God. Only the One true sacrifice could do that. The book of Hebrews was written to show them that the Bible, all the stories and laws and poetry, all point to one person: Jesus Christ. It shows us that the Bible is the story of redemption, not through what people do to be good, but through what Christ did on the cross and on the third day. The goal of this study is to help you grow in a deeper relationship with Christ. Pure and simple. Our walk with him is the most important part of our lives. The author of Hebrews has woven together a book that points to the profoundly simple and important truth that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. He must be the center of our spiritual lives because He is truly superior to all other ways of living and worshipping.

What we are about to study is, in my mind, the most critical spiritual topic at this moment. I sat at my piano with my Bible open, pouring through its pages. I had to make a crucial decision in a very critical moment of the church. We hadarrived at important crossroads, and I was feeling the weight of the moment. The outcome would affect thousands of lives, as well as the future of our church. I read all my favorite scriptures one by one, but I just could not find the right "note" -- that familiar, powerful, peace-giving and joy producingword that God speaks to us to provide and guide us into His will and grace. There are words on the earth that are filled with supernatural power. By them mankind is allowed to live as no other creature can. Through them, a new dimension of living is awakened in the reborn heart. These words thrive with a life source that fashioned the galaxies and remains their unseen nurturer and sustainer. These words have been given power. They have not been given just the power of communicationand enlightenment, but they have been given the power of self-fulfillment. Whatever these words communicate they can create. As a seed from a tree, these words are designed to fulfill their destiny and reproduce whatever they promise. These words pulsate with a power so great that those who receive these words experience a transformation of their very being.There are no other words like them in the earth. No words which can stand the comparison. None that have influenced and inspired more lives. None that can make the same outlandish, seemingly impossible claims. None so crystal clear in purpose and direction. None that bring life found no other way. These are the Word of God.

"Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." (John 8:58) Jesus Christ was not shy about who He was: He didn't hide His identity. He brought it out in the open, for all to see. However, too many people didn't want to see who Him for who He was.That can be said for our day and age as well. Jesus is hiding in plain sight. When John recorded Jesus' statements, he was giving us a beautiful revelation of Jesus Christ and delivering a shock to the religious world. That shock can still be felt today.

Following Christ is life's greatest adventure! It is a never-ending, never-boring, life-giving, heavenly-rewarding journey with God Himself as your guide and partner. This is what this life is all about: knowing and following Jesus Christ. Everything else in the word pales in comparison to this great truth. This is the reason we're here. This is the purpose and meaning of what life was designed to give us: a living, personal relationship with God that begins now, but will last for eternity. Let the journey begin!
