Scientific Essay from the year 2023 in the subject Physics - Quantum Physics, , language: English, abstract: The purpose of this paper is to propose a self-creating, self-organizing dynamical system more primitive than the invariant set. It also proposes a paradigm shift in our view of reality and a non-algorithmic, non-reductionist means of interacting with reality.A reductionist view of the world, in which all observables are thought to be due to fundamental particles interacting in a space-time continuum described by differential equations, that is, bits of space and time--dx, and dt, has been an accepted model of reality. However, paradoxical, non-intuitive properties of quantum mechanics led to the development of invariant set theory. A new paradigm, the Phi Connectome PC is presented. It is a self-generated, self-organized, self-maintained system of nested oscillators which computes non algorithmically by phase shifting and is posited to be more primitive than the invariant set. Cellular automaton CA #110 is XOR (eXclusive- OR) homeomorphic to Asymmetry graph # 110, which can be seen as the random interaction between two oscillators, i.e., Parrondo's Paradox, wherein CA #110, bound by the PCE and PCI, denotes a system that is not algorithmically decidable. Nested oscillators of the PC are separated by the irrational number phi = 1.618 and communicate one-to-many and many-to-one by bosons and their scale equivalents at all scales by phase shifting. The PC frequency ranges from the 'particles/oscillators' of the standard model of physics to life and consciousness to the cosmos. The PC is a fundamental paradigm shift in our understanding of reality. Among many insights, this new paradigm suggests a more rational and perhaps a more effective means of treating diseases such as cancer and aging.

Scientific Essay from the year 2020 in the subject Physics - Quantum Physics, , language: English, abstract: This paper proposes a mechanism producing quantum coherence in microtubules and questions, how this quantum coherence is scaled up to include the cerebral cortex. Microtubules are part of the cytoskeleton in all cells. In neurons, they are thought to play a key role in consciousness. The Orch-OR theory of consciousness maintains that consciousness¿qualia, the feeling of life itself¿requires quantum processes, and that Turing machine algorithms, though capable of astonishing calculations, lack insight and understanding. "Insight" as Gödel¿s incompleteness argument suggests may not be demonstrable by an algorithmic process. Consciousness (Chalmer¿s explanatory gap) may depend on more than calculation. In the current consciousness paradigm, quantum coherent microtubules are considered the primary unit of "computation" rather than neurons and the synapses between neurons.

Scientific Essay from the year 2019 in the subject Biology - Cytology, , language: English, abstract: How did life begin? Why are amino acids left-handed (homochiral) in living organisms? This paper suggests that these questions can be approached by analysing computational constraints in complex dynamical systems (chemical or not) that are not in equilibrium. I will propose a model based on the behavior of dynamic billiards on billiard tables shaped like asymmetry graphs (A-graphs) constructed from Wolfram random cellular automaton #30 and Wolfram complex cellular automaton #110. The model entails an abstract geometrical illustration of the co-emergence of left-homochirality and complexity. It is proposed that complexity and homochirality are co-emergent phenomena based on the formulation asymmetriy and entropy leads to complexity.Consequently, life may not necessarily depend on carbon-water chemistry on worlds in the 'Goldilocks' zone.

Scientific Essay from the year 2018 in the subject Psychology - General, , language: English, abstract: Synchronicity--'an acausal connecting principle' as proposed by Carl Jung may be shown to be bound by the axiom of causality (AOC) if one takes into account three factors: the principle of computational equivalence (PCE); the principle of computational irreducibility (PCI); and the Brouwer fixed-point theorem (BFPT). Direct causal relationships presented as elements in a universal cellular automaton can result in a deterministic yet a priori indeterminate result in which the outcome of computation is bound by the PCI. This means that the circuitous computational pathway by which events are related causally cannot be determined. Moreover, if these direct causal relationships are represented as vectors on the surface of a sphere, then according to the Brouwer fixed-point theorem they will meet at a fixed point or in a 'whorl'. If at least one of the vectors represents a conscious agent, then the confluence of vectors in the whorl may be seen as an acausal coincidence. However, the vectors ARE causally related in the past (AOC), but--because of the PCI--may seem to be acaually related due to their convergence within the same patch of space and time in the whorl.

Scientific Essay from the year 2017 in the subject Biology - Diseases, Health, Nutrition, , language: English, abstract: Mesothelioma is a serious and fatal lung cancer affecting people who have inhaled asbestos particles. The disease involves membranes covering the lung and inner chest wall (pleura), and to a lesser extent, membranes covering abdominal organs (peritoneum) and the heart (pericardium). This paper proposes that persistent piezoelectric signals arising in asbestos could result in overproduction of collagen (fibrosis) and hypopolarization (lowered transmembrane potential¿Vmem) of fibroblasts leading to mesothelioma. Psoriasis and autoimmune diseases may be related to problems with gap junction intercellular communication. Some possible approaches to treating mesothelioma by either interfering with the piezoelectric effect of asbestos or by hyperpolarization of the membrane potential, Vmem, of fibroblasts are proposed.

Scientific Essay from the year 2018 in the subject Biology - Diseases, Health, Nutrition, , language: English, abstract: Cells of multicellular organisms communicate with each other through gap junctions composed of connexin proteins. The totality of gap junction communication among a group of cells is a Gap Junction Bioelectric Network (GJBN). Even though the rule governing a GJBN may be simple, its computations can be complex. The Principle of Computational Equivalence (PCE) holds that Wolfram cellular automaton #110 is sufficiently complex to model the computations of a complex GJBN. The Principle of Computational Irreducibility (PCI) maintains that a complex GJBN cannot be modeled accurately and comprehensively by 'shortcut' equations. Instead, the system must be 'run' to observe its outcome. It is proposed that aging and cancer are the result of chronic entropic dysregulation of the complex asymmetric GJBN modeled by cellular automaton #110 into a symmetric random network modeled by cellular automaton #30. Consequently, asymmetric morphogen gradients necessary for the geometric stability of the organism (morphostasis) are gradually lost, and the organism 'grows' old and develops cancer. The Hayflick limit, shortening of telomeres, and telomerase activity are not the proximate causes of aging and cancer. Successful cancer prevention/treatment, and anti-aging or rejuvenation strategies will require a systems approach that maintains or restores the complex GJBN modeled by Wolfram cellular automaton #110.

Scientific Study from the year 2016 in the subject Mathematics - Miscellaneous, , language: English, abstract: A heuristic approach relates the self-organization of the fetal neo-cortex to transformation of random information flow in Wolfram asymmetry graph #30 into the controlled and complex information flow in Wolfram asymmetry graph #110. Random spindle bursts transmitted through gap junctions affect developing neuron trans-membrane potentials, Vmem. A scale-free, Vmem-dependent, negative-feedback homeostatic mechanism controls network connectivity via neuron paring, and alteration of the ratios of excitatory and inhibitory synapses so that random information flow becomes organized and capable of complex calculations. This model allows the formation of synaptic complexity with a minimal amount of DNA information.
