"Such a powerful reminder! I truly needed to hear this. Thank you!" Every person has a recording that plays over and over in their mind. We repeatedly tell ourselves things that may or may not be true on a daily basis. Some of the things we tell ourselves are accurate, encouraging, edifying and Christ-centered. But just as often, we tell ourselves things that are completely untrue and the fruit of false beliefs or false gospels that we've allowed to take root in our heart. Some people spend the bulk of their lives engaging in negative self-talk. They keep themselves in a constant state of discouragement and mental defeat with the words and mantras they repeat to themselves every single day. But Christ wants more for His people. The truth of His Gospel is rich and deep and this truth has the power to counteract the negativity and false beliefs that try to take root in our lives and our thinking. In this book, we will be examining the only message that can defeat our negative self-talk for good. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for the hurting and discouraged soul. The coming pages and chapters are all geared toward pointing our hearts back to Christ and learning to see ourselves from His loving and gracious perspective. We'll also take a look at a simple, but effective, 7-step process that we can implement when we're ready to overcome the daily presence of negative self-talk in our lives. If you've been repeating a stream of negative self-talk to yourself for years, this book is for you. My hope is that after reading through these pages, you'll feel equipped with the truth of Christ's Gospel as well as a helpful technique that can help you identify, address and counteract the pattern of negativity and discouragement you've been struggling with. • - An applicational study of the final lessons Jesus taught His disciples
    af John Stange

What would you say to your friends and family if you knew for a fact that your time on earth was coming to a close? Is there something you would want them to know? Would you want to leave them with a word of encouragement? Is there something you might want to confess to them? Would you want to assure them of your love? When we read the gospels, it becomes clear that Jesus knew the time had come for Him to be crucified. He knew His time with His disciples was coming to a close. They didn't seem to realize it, and even acted dismissively toward Jesus when He tried to explain that His time to leave this earth was quickly approaching. But Jesus used the remaining time He had with them to communicate some additional words of truth and deep insights into His nature and plan for His followers. Much of what Jesus said to His disciples during this period of time is recorded in chapters 13-17 of the Gospel of John. Some refer to this section as Jesus' "Farewell Discourse" because these were His final teaching moments with His disciples before He was crucified. In our context, we might call this His "last lecture." At this point in His ministry, Jesus has been rejected by the majority of the Jewish people and He turns His attention primarily toward His community of believers. He counsels them and explains that He will be arrested, crucified, buried, and then rise from death. They had a hard time accepting this teaching, but everything transpired just as Jesus said it would. We also know that after His resurrection, Jesus appeared to hundreds of people in His resurrected state and then commissioned His disciples before returning to Heaven. What was the substance of what Jesus taught His followers in the days before this all took place? What did He use those moments to communicate? Why did He want His disciples to know this information and why was it passed along to us? In the coming chapters, we'll be examining the counsel Christ has given us in His "last lecture."

  • - An Encouraging Study of God's Nature, Attributes, and Transformative Work in Our Lives
    af John Stange
    108,95 kr.

Many people in this world claim to believe that God exists, but if you ask them to give you specifics about what He's like and what He does, you're likely to be given a lot of opinions, but very little biblical evidence to back those opinions up. God desires a deep, personal connection with His creation. He isn't disinterested and uninvolved with what He has made. He doesn't ultimately desire to be disconnected or distant from humanity. For these reasons, He has intentionally made Himself known to us. Creation itself testifies to His existence, but in addition to that, He has intentionally and progressively made many specifics about Himself known to us over the course of history. At present, does God seem distant and unknowable to you? Would you like to get to know Him better or more deeply? Likewise, God has revealed Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Typically, we refer to these three Persons as the Trinity, but do we truly understand this concept? Throughout the pages of this book, we're going to be looking at what the Scriptures demonstrate about the divinity, unity, ministry, and relate-ability of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. At the same time, we'll be developing a deeper understanding of God's transformative work in our lives.
