133,95 kr. I joined the ranks of the blind in 2005 at the age of 60. Cornea dystrophy combined with glaucoma has gradually destroyed my eyesight and significantly changed my life. I have been encouraged by many folks to record my experiences as I transitioned from sight to sightlessness. Thus began the writing of short 400 to 500 word essays, the compilation of 30 essays into my first book entitled Blindsight, another 30 essays into my second book which I have entitled The Blind Side, and again, 30 essays into this book, Blind Walker. My hope is to share, to encourage, and to inspire you, the reader, as I tell stories of my life as a blind guy.

469,95 kr. The book ""The Notion of Tradition in John Driedo: Dissertatio ad Lauream in Facultate Theologica, Pontificiae Universitatis Gregorianae"" by John L. Murphy is a scholarly work that explores the concept of tradition in the writings of John Driedo, a 16th-century Dutch theologian. The book is based on Murphy's doctoral dissertation, which he completed at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. The book begins with an introduction that provides an overview of Driedo's life and work, as well as the historical context in which he lived. From there, Murphy delves into Driedo's writings on tradition, examining his views on the relationship between Scripture and tradition, the role of the Church in preserving and interpreting tradition, and the importance of tradition in the development of Christian doctrine.Throughout the book, Murphy engages with Driedo's ideas in a critical and nuanced manner, drawing on a range of primary and secondary sources to provide a comprehensive analysis of his thought. He also situates Driedo's ideas within the broader context of the Reformation and the Catholic Counter-Reformation, highlighting the ways in which Driedo's views on tradition were both influenced by and contributed to these movements.Overall, ""The Notion of Tradition in John Driedo"" is a rigorous and insightful study of an important figure in the history of Christian thought, and will be of interest to scholars and students of theology, history, and philosophy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

- Second Edition
293,95 kr. Introduction to Loudspeaker Design is written for students, technicians, engineers and hobbyists seeking an overview of the technology of loudspeakers. Starting with a brief history of audio developments the book begins by introducing the concepts of frequency, pitch and loudness and proceeds to develop the idea of a loudspeaker as a system. The book covers such topics as loudspeaker design tradeoffs, spatial loading, diffraction loss, cavity effect and enclosure construction. A complete chapter is devoted to the subject of crossover design including design equations. The second edition adds a new chapter on simulation and analysis which includes design equations for closed and vented type speakers. The appendices contain technical references, design aids, glossaries and a chart depicting 18 different loudspeaker enclosure types. The author is a physicist/audio design engineer with over 35 years experience in the research and development of audio products spanning both hardware and software. His WinSpeakerz, TrueRTA and DATS software applications are widely used throughout the audio industry as tools for simulating and measuring loudspeaker performance. Captain Murphy served as a space systems analyst for NORAD during his military career. Changes for the Second Edition: The second edition brings new material and polishes the first edition with many new or improved illustrations. Chapter 2 was expanded with the second half split into a new Chapter 3 titled "Speaker Response Functions". The discussion of Thiele-Small parameters has been expanded and now covers small-signal parameters vs. large-signal parameters as it explores the role of the test signal level in parameter measurement. The crossover design chapter has been expanded to include formulas for calculating component values for the most popular crossover types. Equations have been added for calculating impedance compensation and attenuation networks. The old Chapter 7 FAQ material was integrated into other chapters as appropriate. A new Chapter 8 titled "Loudspeaker Simulation" has been added and introduces loudspeaker equivalent circuit analysis with equations for calculating the magnitude and phase responses of closed and vented loudspeaker systems. Additional design equations are introduced and then examples are given for calculating the responses of a closed box and a vented box loudspeaker. Detailed design equation summaries are given for closed and vented boxes. Appendix C was added to provide a glossary of symbols and a glossary of terms. The box type charts were moved to Appendix D.

143,95 kr. About the AuthorJohn Murphy and his wife Marylee have resided in Orrington, Maine since 1973. They have raised ten children, six homemade and four adopted, plus numerous foster children over the years. They have been members of East Orrington Congregational Church (EOCC) since 1985. John is a retired professional Structural Engineer. In 1992, as EOCC was considering a new meetinghouse to replace the existing inadequate buildings, he volunteered his engineering expertise as the principal designer of the new church facility, which opened in November of 1994. John has served on many EOCC committees, including two extended terms on the Board of Deacons. It was while on the Board of Deacons that he penned devotional essays entitled "The Deacon's Bench" for the EOCC bi-monthly newsletter, the Pen of Power. A compilation of these newsletter essays entitled From the Deacon's Bench was published in 2013.Following the onset of blindness in 2005, he was encouraged to continue writing similar essays with a focus on his experiences as a blind guy. In 2015, he published Blindsight, a compilation of an additional thirty of these essays. The Blind Side is a compilation of another thirty essays.

98,95 kr. From 1992 to 2007, with a year off for good behavior, I had the honor and privilege of serving on the Board of Deacons at East Orrington Congregational Church (EOCC) in Orrington, Maine. During my tenure on the Board, I penned a one-page devotional for the Church Newsletter entitled THE DEACON'S BENCH. From The Deacon's Bench is a compilation of many of these devotionals. My intent and hope was to relate some of life's experiences to God's written word, to expose readers to various passages of Scripture, and to share with others a little of my personal walk with God. --John Murphy

143,95 kr. For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7. I joined the ranks of the blind in 2005 after six decades of pretty good vision. With the encouragement of many folks, I began to record my adventures as a blind guy with short one or two page articles. My intent and hope was to relate some of life's experiences to God's written word, to expose readers to various passages of Scripture, and to share with others a little of my personal walk with God. "Blindsight" is a compilation of thirty such articles.
