- A Musical Journey
148,95 kr. The phone rings - my phone rings. I've set the tone to play the first four bars of Little Walter's great blues harmonica instrumental Off the Wall, which was the first Walter tune I learned to play. Hearing this short excerpt always takes me to wonderful places. Sometimes, I jump into the remainder of the first theme or it might be into his great tune Juke, but often it's some obscure tune my memory dredges up. You could say the blues is always on my mind, even if only subconsciously. I've always carried a lot of music in my head and it's often blues. This book isn't really about me, it is however, about my blues journey and the places the music has revealed to me. It is my personal take on the blues - a disparate collection of chapters about the concept of blues, my early obsession with the form, and experiences I've had as a musician playing guitar and harmonica. I also include chapters on seminal blues artists and records, along with a host of other musical topics.Although I have been playing blues harp and guitar for over 50 years I realise this doesn't make me an expert on blues, far from it. But by understanding the music from a technical perspective, I hope to provide a useful resource for people interested in blues.

133,95 kr. Quantum physics raises new questions about the universe and life. One of the most intriguing being, does the universe create consciousness or does consciousness create the universe? Consciousness may be fundamental to the universe - from objects as small as electrons, to matter composed of molecules and perhaps even the universe itself.Quantum physics reveals that everything in the universe is interconnected. The more we learn about the universe the more we find that it is even more mysterious than we thought. Not only is the universe subject to laws of physics, but it is also finely tuned for life to exist.Current concepts of the creation of the universe might be imperfect and the inclusion of new theories of biology into cosmic sciences could provide insights about consciousness and matter. The author presents arguments that the human mind is not physical matter - part of the brain - but functions outside of our body and is unified with a universal consciousness - a Cosmic Mind or God.Many scientists now believe that, at our most fundamental level, human beings are packets of quantum energy, constantly exchanging information with an inexhaustible sea of energy in the universe, called the Zero Point Field (or Akashic Field). And that human perception occurs because of interactions between the subatomic particles of our brains and the Zero Point Field. Could that Field be a Cosmic Mind or God?The topics of mind, soul and spirit are discussed. Are they the same? Could the mind exist outside of the body? Does the mind survive after death? What is death? In view of the global pandemic the author asks, what are viruses? Could viruses have a purpose or are they just here by a chance of evolution, causing misery and death to life on Earth? Could viruses be a tool of evolution? There seems to be an unrelenting force in play to create life on Earth. To some it is strictly an evolutionary process - the gradual development of life from a simple form to a more complex form. However, the probability of the countless inexplicable occurrences supporting the creation of life and its continued existence is enormously low. It seems more probable that something is guiding an inexorable progression in the development of life on Earth and, perhaps, in the universe.Other topics include, how we sense our environment, how atoms became animate, what is consciousness, autistic savant and genius, relativity and time, the bizarre quantum world, is the universe composed of matter or energy, is the universe a biocentric entity, are humans special in the universe, science and religion, could other intelligent life exist in the universe and the final question, has quantum physics found God.
