153,95 kr. Of Fathers & Gods is a debut collection of short fiction that delves into the relationships between fathers and their children: the good, the bad, and the awful. In these emotionally charged stories, a young expectant father, on the edge of homelessness, loses his religion and duels with a street preacher; fifty-year-old twins, survivors of foster care, war, and prison, fight over the decision to finally meet the father who abandoned them as infants, and hold him to account; and a Pulitzer-winning, ageist professor seeks to quash the writing dreams of an elderly student while coming to terms with how much love he's lost as a result of his career. These nine stories open a window into the most primal elements of the human condition-childhood and parenting-and show us how, try as we might, we can never fully escape the bonds of blood.

- Stories from 33 Quebec's Tour of Duty
208,95 kr. 33 Quebec was his radio call sign. Even with two years of training, he was still green Infantry Lieutenant on his first combat tour in Vietnam. 33 Tango was a Sergeant First Class (E7) with nineteen and one half years of service. He was halfway through his third tour in Vietnam. He would leave Vietnam and retire from the Army at the same time. As part of the five man Mobile Advisory Team (MAT) 111, they formed a two-man unit operating as advisors to the local Regional Force soldiers in the jungles and hamlets of Phuoc Long Province along the Cambodian border during the part of the war know as Vietnamization - the withdrawal of American forces from the war. This collection of stories describes actual events of 33 Quebec's tour of duty. The stories present a level of detail about the various day to day operations of Advisors not often found in books about the Vietnam war. These stories bring new insights to an element of the Vietnam war that few people know.

263,95 kr. Forever Faithful celebrates the history of Cornell hockey, focusing on twenty-four memorable games played by the men's and women's teams since the opening of Lynah Rink in 1957. The foreword was written by Ken Dryden (Cornell '69), who led the Big Red team to its first NCAA championship in 1967, won six Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens, and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. The narrative begins with an early history of the program, when games were played outdoors on Beebe Lake, and moves on to chapters celebrating the rituals and traditions of the Lynah Faithful and the key rivalries of both the men's and women's teams. Game accounts follow, each one featuring insights from coaches and players who were involved and illustrated by many color and black-and-white photographs of the players and game action. The book concludes with an appendix that lists key statistics and accomplishments of the men's and women's programs.
