- The case of Margaret Stevenson Miller
148,95 kr. An investigation of the case of Dr. Margaret Miller, a lecturer in Economics at Liverpool University. Margaret Miller lost her job when she married. This was the 1930s and marriage bars were alive and kicking, but a nationwide campaign was organised by women's groups such as the Women's Freedom League to save Miller's job. In part it succeeded, Liverpool University removed its marriage bar, but Miller still lost her job.

148,95 kr. Tea and Ginger Cake is a collection of poems about people, but sometimes the people are things. Some are funny, some are political or sceptical about man-made global warming (aka climate change, a perfectly natural phenomenon - or did the dinosaurs have factories and was Edward II swanning round in a Rolls when the bottom fell out of the climate in the early 14th century, putting the tin lid on his already unhappy reign?). Mostly they are examining personal histories and characters from a slightly odd angle. Enjoy them!

- Poems of Passion
73,95 kr. Poetry about love, some of it erotic. Passion is something humans crave but historically it has been seen as devastating. It is no less devastating in the 21st century - passion causes all sorts of disasters for lovers, especially illicit ones, and there are plenty here! Thirty years in the writing, these poems are a distillation of passion and its fruits.

78,95 kr. These short stories and poems inspired by the sea are out of this world. 'Morgan the Masquerader' is set on an alien planet, 'Dinner Date' has some strange guests. Who Val loves in 'There Are No Sharks, So Far As I Know, In Lake Baikal' is completely unclear and clearly open to question. The interspersed poems expound upon the lives and alieness of sea creatures in a world quite as stange as any we might find in outer space.

- A One Act Play
123,95 kr. Recieved nomination of Best Young Player for part of Gitanjali at Leicestershire One Act Play Festival. The Coral Island is an atmospheric horror story aimed at a young teenage audience with a cast of three young teenage boys and an older girl of no more than sixteen. It is a tale of lost innocence and the awaking of the boys' naive sexual desire. We witness the destruction of the boys' platonic relationships due to the baleful influence of the evil manipulative, beautiful Eve who unexpectedly joins them on their deserted island. The boys are drawn into a dark, drugged nightmare world of cannibalistic horror to which their straight forward boyish minds can find no answer. It is a play which needs adult input and technological expertise to bring out the atmosphere. The Coral Island is written in a simplistic style suitable for a young inexperienced cast to easily learn and for a young audience to readily understand. Despite the dark nature of the play, it is a fun experience for the cast and crew to produce.

113,95 kr. Life is not a rehearsal. This is well understood by the subjects of these poems. You live and learn and sometimes it's hilarious and sometimes it feels like the sky fell in. Well, that's life for you, one long trip to the dentist followed by candyfloss, if you're lucky.

- The Mystery of Christopher Marlowe
138,95 kr. An investigation into the supposed death of Christopher Marlowe, and how he could have survived the attack in Deptford in May 1593. The controversy of Marlowe's death has lasted five centuries. Who Died in Deptford? investigates not only the murder on Deptford Strand but also the relationship between Shakespeare and Marlowe, Marlowe's spying career, his importance in Walsingham's secret service and the cause of Richard Baines hatred of Marlowe. This book presents a new and revolutionary theory as to the Shakespeare-Marlowe connection, the events in Vlissingen, Kyd's arrest and the Baines Note, and the outcome of the conspiracy at Mistress Bull's house in Deptford, which will change the view of Marlowe and Shakespeare forever.

184,95 kr. This book is a personal and faith journey - a book of reflective, inspirational prayers written every day for a year. Back in early May 2020 I had a vision for this project slip its way into my mind. The vision was a request to write prayers to Mother Mary. I was asked to do this every day for twelve months. Why this project? I was baffled! It was no simple task. I just sat there wondering how in Mary's name I was going to write 365 prayers that didn't end up being similar.I found that from the very beginning it became a reflective personal observational exercise for me and the prayers have become more of a reflection with a prayer attached. My prayer today is to you - that you find joy and strength in your heart as you walk the path of wherever these words take you.

176,95 kr. A collection of beautiful photographs and thoughtful sayings to contemplate and inspire. Captured around the Macleay on Australia's east coast, a river that stretches from the rugged Great Dividing Range to the Pacific Ocean, the photographs take you through shaded mountain pools and open cattle country to the bird-filled floodplains and crashing surf beyond. Be reminded that beside the majestic sunsets and dramatic vistas there may be a leaf catching the light just-so, or a smile on a face nearby. Each photograph is paired with a reflection inspired by these surroundings - some profound, some whimsical - and all thought-provoking. Take some time to sit and reflect - see where the journey takes you!
