This volume consists of abstracts from the first four copy books of the Essex County Deed Books. These records are a rich source of names complete with details of the transactions and the properties involved. Records contain (as available) the full names of both the buyer and the seller in bold type, the date of the transaction, a description of the property including its location, payment(s), and (as available) witnesses. The fullname index is a bonus for researchers.

This series collects the quarterly journals of the Essex Society of Genealogists into convenient yearly volumes. Essex County, Massachusetts, is a region of genealogical interest to many people across the country, and the Society's journal has been an important source of information for its subscribers since it was founded in 1981.
