In this study of the regiment, Holly Mayer marshals personal and official accounts to reveal what the personal passions, hardships, and accommodations of the 2nd Canadian can tell us about the greater military and civil dynamics of the American Revolution.

This work reveals the identity and importance of the civilians in the War for American Independence. It reconstructs the interactions between the army and the community that encompassed and sustained it.
