In Latin, the word "alibi" literally means "somewhere else," and to any person charged with a crime, it is an extremely valuable asset to have, because it can mean the difference between an acquittal and a conviction. However, just having an alibi isn't enough: it has to stand up to scrutiny, because any good prosecutor knows that breaking an alibi and proving it was fraudulently concocted can lead a sure-thing conviction. In this eleventh adventure of the Peter Sharp Legal Mysteries, Peter is forced into a role he never thought he'd be playing: that of a prosecutor.

Peter Sharp isn't your usual type of attorney unless you consider getting divorced, disbarred, thrown out of your house, and disgraced, all normal for a practicing lawyer. He also gets involved with a case of Negligent Nymphomania, a ground-breaking new tort cause of action Peter finds himself drawn into. Making matters worse is the fact that his sole source of income - a former classmate, winds up dead; the man accused of murder by jealousy winds up his romantic rival, and Peter winds up getting appointed legal guardian of a precocious 12-year old girl who tries to solve the crimes before Peter and the police can.

    153,95 kr.

There are many types of mysteries, but one stands out over all the others: the ones involving a Locked Room. Over the years, every mystery writer worth his salt has tried to come up with the one that tops all the rest: the secret compartments, the doors locked from the inside, the confused timeline, etc., etc, etc. Jacques Futrelle set the standard with his "Problem in Cell 13," but there hasn't been a really fine stumper since then... Until now. Gene Grossman seems to have created a locked room mystery to end all locked room mysteries: not only is the room locked - it is a steel security room from which entry or escape is physically impossible. The crime is actually seen by several witnesses, but the murderer has disappeared into thin air. If this mystery is to be solved, nobody has a better chance of doing it than a 12-year-old computer whiz: an adorable little Chinese girl who is the legal ward of attorney Peter Sharp.

    153,95 kr.

More than half way back from Catalina Island on his boat, a man makes a ship-to-shore S.O.S. radio call to the Marina del Rey Coast Guard, but before he can describe his emergency, a gun is heard being fired on his boat and the transmission ends. When a crew lowered from the the Coast Guard helicopter board his boat and find his body, there is no other person on the boat... and no way that any other person could have boarded his boat going 30 miles an hour, and gotten away from the speeding boat. Attorney Peter Sharp's ex-wife (the recently-elected District Attorney) reluctantly asks Peter and his 12-year-old genius legal ward Suzi to assist them in determining if this was suicide or murder... and if murder, how it was accomplished. This is one of the most baffling cases that Peter and Suzi have ever tackled, and the final answer surprises everyone involved. Author Gene Grossman hasn't created a stumper like this since his adventure #7, the Magician's Legacy, because in many ways this story also contains the elements of a successful 'locked-room' mystery. The readers are invited to match wits with Suzi, to see if they can solve the mystery before she does.

  • - If you?ve got something to say, nothing can block you from getting those words onto paper
    af Gene Grossman
    173,95 kr.

I've written almost 50 books, of which 20 are a series of mysteries, and I've never suffered from what they call writer's block, for one main reason: I don't sit down at my computer intending to write until I have something to say... and the only thing that slows me down isn't not having something to say, it's trying to figure out the best way to say it. I don't claim to be able to sit down and instantly think of things to say, having not thought about it previously, unless I'm writing a non-fiction book on a subject I know like the back of my hand... and then I'm like an old performer that opens up the refrigerator door and when the light goes on, I do a half-hour. Not everyone has something to say, but still wants to write a book because there's a story in them fighting to get out, so the purpose of this book about there being no such thing as writer's block is what I have done to eliminate it from my writing process, and believe may help others to do the same. I don't plan to sit down and force myself to write every day for a set amount of hours just to get a certain amount of words onto the screen: I have a mental process I practice that gives me things to say so that I can't wait to get to my desk to start them flying into the computer at a rate of over 75 words a minute, of which more than half are typos... but at least they're on the paper, and for corrections - well, that's why God created proof-readers. I also go into a lot of things 'not' to do, and discuss the pros and cons of also doing a book in the audio format, for distributors like Audible.com Overall, I believe that this book covers things that the writing courses don't touch upon, because I never heard about them in the writing classes I attended. This book is the perfect book for any person that wants to write a book, and can also help writers already in the process that are having some problems along the way. It's also a fine gift for any friend or relative that has expressed a desire to write, or someone with a personality and imagination you respect that you feel should be writing a book but needs a little push... or a book like this to get them started... and I sincerely believe that all it takes to put out a decent book is to be full of baloney, and a good typist. And if you can't type, there are some pretty good voice recognition programs out there, and as for being 'full of it, ' well, I really don't know anyone that isn't. Just keep in mind that even though person thinks they've never written a book, they've actually been writing two of them since the day they learned how to talk, and the titles of those two books are, "Things I Should Have Not Said," and "Things I Should Have Said," and that means they're already authors. The book also includes a special section containing some things to mention in a book that will make people think you're smart.

Our AudioBookActorsWorkshop sessions begin with a three-hour orientation session for all nine members of each session group, but it's not uncommon for one or more of the group to be unable to complete the six-to-eight weeks it takes for us to finish the book that session group will be recording. A vacancy requires us to bring in a replacement that was previously not able to join us due to our 9-person group maximum, so we contact the next person on our waiting list - and if he or she comes in to re-record the first person's dialogue, we cannot provide the new team member with the full orientation - and that is what this book is intended to replace. Our workshop groups provide each session member with not only dialogue coaching, but because we form 3-person teams, each member gains hands-on experience in technical directing, voice acting, and script supervision. One book we are now recording has 29 voices there are parts for - so with only 9 actors, there is also a significant amount of experience to be gained in playing multi parts in a book, much like the very talented cast of the Simpson, Family Guy and other animated programs. Anyone living in an area convenient to where our workshop sessions are conducted in Marina del Rey, California that is interested in considering joining our workshops should visit our website at www.AudioBookActorsWorkshops.com and submitting the REQUEST INTERVIEW form. They will then be contacted by telephone to discuss becoming one of our session team-members. With the tremendous rise of Print on Demand technology and publishers like Amazon.com's Createspace, there is a growing need for talented voice actors able to provide audio for the independent authors to have access to talent to convert their works into audiobooks. We look forward to hearing from actors, and working with them in our workshop sessions.

  • - Suzie B. Mystery #1: The catching of a serial bomber/murderer
    af Gene Grossman
    128,95 kr.

If you haven't been fascinated by her brilliant Sherlock Holmes type of logic in the first 15 Peter Sharp Legal Mysteries, then now's your chance to see what little Suzi can do when she's out on her own... well, almost her own. She still lives on a luxurious yacht in Marina del Rey California with her legal Guardian, attorney Peter Sharp; and she still has her trusted bodyguard Bernie, a huge Saint Bernard - but for this adventure she doesn't want to see the adults take advantage of her superior computer skills and grab all the credit for solving the crimes, like they have in the first 15 books that chronicled Peter Sharp's high-profile criminal cases. The assignment she has given herself for this first solo adventure is to figure out the identity of a murderous serial church bomber, set up a trap for him, and have the press handy when she actually attempts a citizens' arrest, with the assist of local law enforcement. At least that's the plan. This would be an ambitious goal for an experienced team of sworn peace officers, but she believes she can pull it off with only the help of some people that she has become acquainted with in her work for attorney Peter Sharp: but this time, she will be giving out the assignments and making all the decisions. To accomplish her chosen task she must make some decisions that slightly inconvenience many of the adults she usually is quite friendly with: attorney Peter Sharp's yacht is seized by the Department of Homeland Security, District Attorney Myra Scot Sharp (Peter's bitter ex-wife) has her home computers seized by the U.S. Marshal's Office, and her boyfriend's mother is believed to be a kidnap victim. Aside from these few minor setbacks, Suzi remains determined to complete her assignment and bring this criminal to justice, notwithstanding the trail of misfortune that her closest friends are forced to endure, while she forges ahead with only one goal in mind: to put the bad guy away. And by the way, there's a large reward being offered for information leading to this criminal's arrest and conviction, but far be it from us to even hint that Suzi might be considering this monetary incentive, to serve society in the best way she can. So - sit back and fasten your seatbelt, because this first Suzi B. Mystery is about to take off, and if you can handle the turbulence along the way, you may be in better shape to survive the roller-coaster ending when the entire city is put on alert to find this little detective, as the chase to catch the bad guy is joined by several local and federal law enforcement departments who all collide at one of the busiest places in Los Angeles.

A man calls the police to report that he saw what he believes to be some gun flashes in the window of an apartment near his boat. When the police respond to the call they discover two dead men who look like they shot each other, and the CSI and medical examiner agree that it was a shoot-out... that they both won. The police and District Attorney can't find any motive or evidence of anyone else being involved, so they both close their files on this mutual-murder of two men who have never seen each other before, and are writing it off as a burglary gone bad... until Suzi B. reads the police report and after also noticing a Suzi manages to have the coroner call for a formal inquest hearing, at which time she promises to prove that someone has committed perjury and that the double-murder case should be re-opened. In order to prove that a witness has lied, Suzi must enlist the help of Jack Bibberman, the law firm's top investigator, Stuart Schwartzman, a friend and client who also owns an aerial photography company, and also an expert from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, who might provide Suzi with the statistical information she needs to crack this case. Peter ex-wife Myra, the county's elected District Attorney is also in the picture this time, but for once she's on Suzi's side, but still doesn't know what's going to happen at the inquest.
