Empathetic approaches to creating sustainable, sympathetic cultural productionIn this collection of essays and musings, Freek Lomme shares his collected and sometimes contradictory experiences of striving for independent, progressive and sustainable creative production. Using a grassroots approach based on activist engagement, entrepreneurship, design pedagogy and more, Lomme offers multiple perspectives on how to maintain a liberal mindset in an era of burgeoning neo-conservatism. Discussing everything from punk rock to the "silent majority," he contextualizes the facade of technocratic capitalism as built by politics, marketing and the invisible hand of the oligarchy. Care Where No One Does sparks a different kind of production economy: one based on trust and engagement wherever possible. Freek Lomme, founder and owner of Set Margins' publications, is an editor, publisher, producer, graphic designer, writer and lecturer. Lomme is best known for founding Onomatopee with graphic designer Remco van Bladel in 2006.

Contemporary sculptural talismans divined from human biology, animal ecology and the coexistence of life on EarthLA-based Canadian artist Karen Lofgren (born 1976) gathers a selection of notes, dialogues and annotated works. In doing so, her living field work transforms into encounters that shape a feminist and decolonial perspective, moving through psychedelics, erotica and interspecies love affairs.Considering works from an international practice, this compendium connects scientific fields to the spirit realm, leaving space for the unknown and the unknowable. It includes dialogues with Mexican vocalist and performer Carmina Escobar, who relates empathetically to nature and the body; Peruvian feminist art historian, curator and writer Florencia Portocarrero; and Dutch curator and writer Marjolein van der Loo, who brings a passion for ecology and social agendas. The result is the creation of an intimate space where rituals, history and mythology look to the construction of a greater consciousness over time, forming relationships between cultural systems and other wild systems.

The center of the city is the place for meeting and consumption. It is where everyone goes, it's where our culture is consumed and lived. However, the offering there is limited, and not a lot is allowed. It's not everybody's space, but the space of the majority. Yet even for that majority, there is no free choice, so it is also place for the silent majority. Meanwhile, every human being wants an inclusive culture, with free offering and free access. Although our culture turns out not to be free, but forced. With this project we ask what could be on offer, and what perhaps ought to be? Many free-thinkers such as designers, philosophers, journalists, artists and others take space to explore this. In short: WE ARE THE MARKET! calls out to freedom in the capitalist commons, within the cultural production of the high street.

The Ghost of Weaving explores the visual poetry that is released within the woven patterns ambivalence between fixation by rule and the dynamics of life, and on the fracture of materialistic realism and the limits of the power that we hold in our hands. The project and final book asks, As productive mastery is channelled through ever more abstract processes, digital tools, and semi-finished particles, have we begun to lose touch with the fundamentals of the pattern produced? With this delightfully creative and multi- dimensional artist book, sectioned into multiple books and Chinese foldouts, we take a step back into the mastery of patterns in craft. We will balance this by looking back into the history of ideas involving patterns as visual motives to culture, and dive into our experiences of them. Contributing artists and designers are elisa van Joolen, esther Stocker, Hansje van Halem, Tracy Widdess, Har Sanders, Koen Taselaar, Maria Hedlund, Sigrid Calon, and Timon van de Hijden.
