273,95 kr. For this definitive collection of Pound's Literary Essays, his friend (and English editor) T. S. Eliot chose material from five earlier volumes: Pavannes and Divisions (1918), Instigations (1920), How to Read (1931), Make It New (1934), and Polite Essays (1937). 33 pieces are arranged in three groups: "The Art of Poetry," "The Tradition," and "Contemporaries." Eliot wrote in his introduction: "I hope that this volume will demonstrate that Pound's literary criticism is the most important contemporary criticism of its kind . . perhaps the kind we can least afford to do without . . . the refreshment, the revitalization and 'making new' of literature in our time."

- The Intellectual Autobiography Of A Poet
494,95 kr. Culture: The Intellectual Autobiography Of A Poet is a book written by the renowned American poet Ezra Pound, in which he reflects on his life and artistic development. The book is essentially an intellectual autobiography, in which Pound discusses his early influences, his education, and his experiences as a writer and thinker. Pound was a major figure in the modernist movement of the early 20th century, and his poetry was known for its experimentation with form and language. In Culture, he discusses his ideas about literature, art, and culture, and reflects on the role of the artist in society. The book is divided into four parts, each of which focuses on a different aspect of Pound's life and work. The first part deals with Pound's childhood and early education, and his early influences as a writer. The second part discusses his time as a student at the University of Pennsylvania, and his early attempts at writing poetry. The third part focuses on his experiences in London and Paris, where he became involved with the modernist movement and met other writers and artists. The final part of the book is perhaps the most significant, as it deals with Pound's ideas about culture and the role of the artist in society. Here, he discusses his theories about the importance of tradition and the need for artists to engage with the world around them. He also reflects on his own work as a poet, and the ways in which his ideas about culture have influenced his writing. Overall, Culture: The Intellectual Autobiography Of A Poet is a fascinating and insightful book that provides a unique perspective on the life and work of one of the most important poets of the 20th century. 96,95 kr. The time when the intellectual affairs of America could be conducted on a monolingual basis is over. It has been irksome for long. The intellectual life of London is dependent on people who understand the French language about as well as their own. America's part in contemporary culture is based chiefly upon two men familiar with Paris: Whistler and Henry James. It is something in the nature of a national disgrace that a New Zealand paper, "The Triad," should be more alert to, and have better regular criticism of, contemporary French publications than any American periodical has yet had.

238,95 kr. Certain of the poems in Lustra have offended admirers of the verse of the Personae period. When a poet alters or develops, many of his admirers are sure to drop off. Any poet, if he is to survive as a writer beyond his twenty-fifth year, must alter; he must seek new literary influences; he will have different emotions to express. This is disconcerting to that public which likes a poet to spin his whole work out of the feelings of his youth; which likes to be able to open a new volume of his poems with the assurance that they will be able to approach it exactly as they approached the preceding. They do not like that constant readjustment which the following of Mr. Pound's work demands. Thus has Lustra been a disappointment to some; though it manifests no falling off in technique, and no impoverishment of feeling. Some of the poems (including several of the Contemporanea) are a more direct statement of views than Pound's verse had ever given before. T.S. Eliot "Ezra Pound: His Metric and Poetry
