This volume-which it has been desired to make known to the great public in the French language-in entering upon a question so complex and so vast as socialism, has but a single and definite aim. My intention has been to point out, and in nearly all cases by rapid and concise observations, the general relations existing between contemporary socialism and the whole trend of modern scientific thought.

The Report of the Government committee appointed to inquire into the treatment of habitual drunkards, the Report of the committee of inquiry into the best means of identifying habitual criminals, the revision of the English criminal returns, the Reports of committees appointed to inquire into the administration of prisons and the best methods of dealing with habitual offenders, vagrants, beggars, inebriate and juvenile delinquents, are all evidence of the fact that the formidable problem of crime is again pressing its way to the front and demanding re-examination at the hands of the present generation.

331,95 kr. This Book Is In Italian. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. While Lombroso researched anthropological criminology, Ferri focused more on social and economic influences on the criminal and crime rates.Ferri's research led to him postulating theories calling for crime prevention methods to be the mainstay of law enforcement, as opposed to punishment of criminals after their crimes had taken place. He became a founder of the positivist school, and he researched psychological and social positivism as opposed to the biological positivism of Lombroso.[1]Ferri, at the time a radical, was elected to Italian Parliament in 1886. In 1893, he joined the Italian Socialist Party[1] and edited their daily newspaper, the Avanti. In 1900 and 1904 he spoke out in congress against the roles of socialist ministers in bourgeoisie governments.Ferri favoured Italian neutrality during World War I, and he was re-elected as a socialist party deputy in 1921. In post-war Italy, he became a supporter of Mussolini's fascist regim

184,95 kr. The Positive School of Criminology is a book written by Enrico Ferri that explores the concept of crime and its causes from a scientific perspective. The book is a seminal work in the field of criminology and was first published in 1894. Ferri's approach to criminology is based on the idea that crime is not a result of individual moral failings, but rather a social phenomenon that is influenced by a range of factors such as poverty, social inequality, and environmental conditions. He argues that the study of crime should be approached scientifically, using empirical evidence and statistical analysis to understand the causes of criminal behavior. The book is divided into three parts. The first part provides an overview of the history of criminology and the different schools of thought that have emerged over time. The second part focuses on the positive school of criminology, which emphasizes the importance of scientific analysis in understanding crime. Ferri discusses the various factors that contribute to criminal behavior, including biological, psychological, and social factors. The third part of the book examines the practical implications of the positive school of criminology. Ferri argues that the criminal justice system should be reformed to take into account the scientific understanding of crime. He suggests that punishment should be based on the individual circumstances of the offender and that rehabilitation should be the primary goal of the criminal justice system.Overall, The Positive School of Criminology is a groundbreaking work in the field of criminology that challenges traditional views of crime and offers a new, scientific approach to understanding criminal behavior. In these two tendencies you have a photographic reproduction of the two schools of criminology. The classic school, which looks upon the crime as a juridical problem, occupies itself with its name, its definition, its juridical analysis, leaves the personality of the criminal in the background and remembers it only so far as exceptional circumstances explicitly stated in the law books refer to it: whether he is a minor, a deaf-mute, whether it is a case of insanity, whether he was drunk at the time the crime was committed. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. 158,95 kr. The Positive School of Criminology by Enrico Ferri is a key publication that contributed to the development of criminology as a scientific field. The positivist school, which claimed that all human behavior, including criminal conduct, could be explained by natural causes, set out to create a new method for studying crime that was founded on these ideas.According to Ferri, a mix of social, biological, and psychological variables contribute to criminal conduct. He held the view that criminals were not born, but rather produced, and that society had a duty to address the underlying factors that contribute to crime. The Positive School of Criminology made a substantial contribution to the study of criminology and changed how crime was investigated and comprehended for the better. Ferri's theories contributed to the change in criminology's emphasis from retribution and punishment to prevention and rehabilitation. His research cleared the path for more scientific methods to crime detection, investigation, and prevention, which had a significant impact on the evolution of the criminal justice system. The Positive School of Criminology is still regarded as a significant book in the history of criminology and is still researched and discussed by academics today, despite certain critiques of Ferri's theories, notably with regard to his emphasis on the relevance of biological variables in criminal conduct.
