88,95 - 93,95 kr. Of course, being a prince, people said this; but it was true besides. When he looked at the candle, his eyes had an expression of earnest inquiry quite startling in a new born baby. His nose-there was not much of it certainly, but what there was seemed an aquiline shape; his complexion was a charming, healthy purple; he was round and fat, straight-limbed and long-in fact, a splendid baby, and everybody was exceedingly proud of him, especially his father and mother, the King and Queen of Nomansland, who had waited for him during their happy reign of ten years-now made happier than ever, to themselves and their subjects, by the appearance of a son and heir. The only person who was not quite happy was the King's brother, the heir presumptive, who would have been king one day had the baby not been born. But as his majesty was very kind to him, and even rather sorry for him-insomuch that at the Queen's request he gave him a dukedom almost as big as a county-the Crown-Prince, as he was called, tried to seem pleased also; and let us hope he succeeded.

88,95 - 118,95 kr. "So I will do my best a gude wife to be, For Auld Robin Grey is vera kind to me." "I think this will do, my dear; just listen;" and in a mysterious half whisper, good Mrs. Ferguson, wife of James Ferguson, the well-to-do silversmith and jeweler, of High Street, Avonsbridge, read aloud from the sheet of paper in her hand: "'On the 21st instant, at the University Church, Avonsbridge, by the Reverend John Smith, the Reverend Arnold Grey, D.D., Master of Saint Bede's College, Avonsbridge, to Christian, only child of the late Edward Oakley, Esq., of that place.' Will it do? Because, if so, James will send it to 'The Times' at once." "Better ask Dr. Grey first," answered the bride. As she spoke, Dr. Grey turned round from the window where he had been conversing-that is, responding to conversation-with Mr. Ferguson, chiefly on the weather; for it was a snowy December day.

- Not A Love Story (1886)
294,95 kr. King Arthur: Not A Love Story is a historical novel written by Dinah Maria Mulock Craik and first published in 1886. The book is a departure from the traditional romanticized retellings of the Arthurian legend, instead presenting a more realistic and historically accurate portrayal of the mythical King Arthur and his court. The novel is divided into three parts, each focusing on a different aspect of Arthur's life. The first part explores the early years of Arthur's reign, as he establishes his court and begins to build his legendary reputation as a just and noble king. The second part delves into the political and military struggles that Arthur faces as he tries to maintain his power and defend his kingdom against enemies both foreign and domestic. Finally, the third part of the book explores Arthur's downfall, as his own flaws and the treachery of those around him lead to the dissolution of his court and the end of his reign.Throughout the book, Craik emphasizes the complex and often contradictory nature of Arthur's character, portraying him as both a visionary leader and a flawed human being. She also explores the role of women in Arthurian legend, giving voice to characters like Guinevere and Morgana who are often sidelined or vilified in other retellings.Overall, King Arthur: Not A Love Story is a thought-provoking and engaging take on one of the most enduring legends of Western literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. 143,95 kr. The baptism of the Prince was to be a lavish event. By six in the morning, the entire royal family was dressed to the nines. The tiny Prince was then dressed to the nines as well, in his exquisite christening gown, which his Royal Highness did not appreciate at all and reacted to by kicking and wailing like a typical infant. Though few people were aware of it, the Prince's visit to the church had really resulted in a little catastrophe. The state nurse-maid, an elegant and fashionable young lady of rank who was in charge of carrying him to and from the chapel, instead of his regular nurse, had been so preoccupied with organizing her train while holding the baby with the other hand that she stumbled and let him fall, right at the foot of the marble staircase. Of course, she managed to pick him up again right away, and the mishap seemed scarcely worth mentioning given how little it was. As a result, no one mentioned it. No one a few steps behind could see anything was amiss since the infant had grown deadly pale but did not cry. Later, even if the baby had cried, the sound of the silver trumpets would have drowned everything out. It would have been unfortunate to let anything ruin such a happy day.
