- Ode to Mini Simmons Surfboards
288,95 kr. At this point I feel good about saying that I have educated myself about Mini Simmons Surfboards.I started this book when I first recognized that these surfboards were special. At first I just posted pics but then I realized that this board was part of something revolutionary. It doesn't happen often, you know, in this thruster world.Don't get me wrong, I don't always ride a Mini-I ride the board that is right for the wave, you dig?Look, we all want the maximum experience from our surf session and at some point you realize that your thruster just won't cut it.Longboards you say, nah.Ahhhh . . . the Mini gets you through those sections where the thruster would die without the 5 extra feet.Longer waves equates to longer love.BUT, and this is a big BUT for me, you still need enough design in the board to make it fly down the magic carpet. And in my case damn it, I want to hit that lip and snap an off the top where appropriate . . . just because I am riding a Mini doesn't mean I don't want those things.Right? So, I am just saying, the right Mini Simmons surfboard can do these things . . . I know, because I shape them. What doesn't work for me . . .too much nosetoo much rockernot enough rockertoo longtoo shorttoo thicktoo wideYea, I know you are saying, WTF.But look, each board is right for the right reasons. That is why I love this site, because who an I to say that the no-glass plywood Mini Simmons wouldn't work?In fact, I love it that this guy shaped it.Or the Twinzer Mini-I fucking love twinzers. But on a Mini, I don't know?So there it is, we all got our preferences.Fuck the mags . . . the right board is the right board.Go shape it.Go ride it.Peace.

188,95 kr. Durham City is a remarkable place, a priceless historical gem and, deservedly, a World Heritage Site. Over 1,000 years Durham's great beauty and history has inspired many architectural descriptions and guides. This book follows in their footsteps but then takes a different path. Wandering through the cathedral's darkened cloisters, the city's narrow medieval streets and the river's winding pathways, Secret City of Durham is one man's view of this famed peninsula - an occasionally quirky tour through history that looks beyond the iconic architecture and behind the fascinating jumble of city buildings. The author peels back their facades to reveal the bewildering changes and on the way points out the lesser-known facts and characters associated with them. What points the way to Durham Cathedral and St Cuthbert's tomb and where can it be found? Who lived in Windy Gap? Why St Mary-the-'Less'? Secret City of Durham answers these fascinating questions and many more in a modern pilgrimage through the city.

188,95 kr. In the space of just 200 years Hebburn has been transformed from a small fishing hamlet into a modern town of 20,000 inhabitants. The driving force in this expansion was of course the development of industry, in particular coal mining and shipbuilding. Indeed, these two industries, and the arrival of the railway in 1872, meant that Hebburn thrived in the nineteenth century. During the twentieth century, Hebburn's fortunes were in the hands of modern engineering companies. Like many of its neighbours the town has suffered from the ups and downs of the economy, but it also benefited from slum clearance and new amenities in the post-war era. Despite its varying fortunes, Hebburn retains its pride and community spirit, as demonstrated in this fascinating collection of archive and modern photographs.
