We are more curious than we have ever been and with such a surplus of information, we can never be satisfied. The whole collective and growing body of literature ensures the mental progression of mankind so that each new person does not need to start from ground zero. Thoughts and ideas are transferred and history is laid out in all the world's novels (and hyperlinks). Or anyway, that's what they say. Literature needs to be legitimate. It's our cultural capital. Build that sandcastle in the air as sturdy as you can, that's the only way people will want what you're producing! My goals lie in playing with that divide between the academic and the creative, thinking about binaries that are not the usual ones, and embarking on a process of discovery. "Process" is the key word here. In any discipline, a process is laid out before you and you are given the opportunity to make it your own. A "reader" or anyone engaging with a process can either merely take it in and leave it behind or they can use their mind to creatively build on what is set before them. I provide the process I went through by providing the sources of my knowledge-quest in an order that I see fit. Through my forms of expression and the turns I choose to take in exploring the concepts that I consider important to this discourse, I hope that my reader will be able to take the next step, to branch out, to make their own discoveries. However, if that cannot happen, I also hope this will be at least an interesting read.

Anthology of Hope is a collection of poetry and prose as curated, edited, and published by Glass Spider Publishing. Note from the editor, Vince Font: Amid the dark and dismal days of late 2020 and early 2021, I found myself at an emotional and psychological nadir, searching anywhere I could from the safety of my home for confirmation that the spark of human decency-of compassion for the weak, of humanity toward the oppressed, and whispered kindnesses amid a nationwide scream fest-was still alive. I found that proof in words. Those words, along with the names of the individuals who wrote them, are contained within this book. I thank them all for showing me that hope can still exist, even in the bleakest of times-and for reminding me that all we have to do to exterminate the darkness is to call upon those carrying the light.
