  • - At samarbejde om læring
af Bjarne Wahlgren, Lars Qvortrup, David W. Johnson, mfl.
    268,95 kr.

  • - Japanese Philosophy in the Wake of Heidegger
    af David W. Johnson
    483,95 kr.

In the first study of its kind, David W. Johnson's Watsuji on Nature reconstructs the astonishing philosophy of nature of Watsuji Tetsuro (1889-1960), situating it in relation both to his reception of the thought of Heidegger and to his renewal of core ontological positions in classical Confucian and Buddhist philosophy.

  • - The Lives and Music of the Stanley Brothers
    af David W. Johnson

Carter and Ralph Stanley - the Stanley Brothers - are comparable to Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs as important members of the earliest generation of bluegrass musicians. • - Theory, Research, Practice
    af David W. Johnson
    415,95 - 719,95 kr.

Why do people make decisions based on their own perspective without considering alternative points of view? Do differences of opinion enhance or obstruct critical thinking? Is it wise to seek out people who disagree with you and listen to their objections to your conclusions? Focusing on the theory, research, and application of constructive controversy, this book analyses the nature of disagreement among members of decision-making groups, project teams, academic study groups, and other groups that are involved in solving problems. Johnson demonstrates that this theory is one of the most effective methods of enhancing creativity and innovation, decision making, teaching, and political discourse. The book includes entertaining and intriguing examples of how constructive controversy has been used in a variety of historical periods to advance creativity, achieve innovations, and guide democracies. It will be welcomed by students in the fields of social psychology, management/business studies, education, and communication studies.

  • - A Model with Data to Predict Aerosol Rainout in Accidental Releases
af David W. Johnson & John L. Woodward
    3.158,95 kr.

This book documents CCPS's Aerosol Research Program to develop a model to predict liquid rainout from release of a pressurized, liquefied gas--and, hence the residual amount of material in a vapor cloud, which may be greater than the amount calculated from an enthalpy chart. RELEASE predicts the rate of fluid discharge, the depressurization, flashing and formation of liquid drops, the entrainment of drops into the vapor cloud, the subsequent spreading of the jet, and rate of liquid rainout to a pool on the ground. Designed in a modular fashion to permit adjustment and corrections as new data become available, its multi-layered approach contains sub-models that include the complexities of many variables, including the effect of liquid superheat, rate of bubble growth, criterion for bubble formation, and heat transfer from the liquid to the growing vapor bubble. To validate RELEASE, CCPS conducted small- and large-scale experiments using superheated water, heated liquefied chlorine, methylamine, and cyclohexane that produced valuable data in an area where data are scarce. This book gives complete access, in text and on CD-ROM, to the model and the test data, giving users an informed ability to apply the model to their own work.
