- The Longest Safari
733,95 kr. Hunting Comancheria, The Longest Safari traces the hunting heritage of Comancheria. Comancheria was the territory held by the Comanche from a time pre-dating western intervention until the mid-1870s. The area encompassed Eastern Colorado, Southern Kansas, Oklahoma and most of Texas. Utilizing the boundaries set by the Comanche this nonfictional account details the hunting of this area from the first culture known in the Americas to present. Comancheria has proven since time has been counted in the Americas that it is perhaps the most game rich and game diverse area outside Africa. No wonder it has been so richly fought over for so long. The author has been hunting Comancheria for twenty five years and his book traces his exploits and shares a few lessons learned along the way. Hunting Comancheria is not a story of great hunting conquests or exhibits of hunting prowess, though more than a few hunts are detailed in the way this author is known for, it is an ode to the cultures and territory itself.

758,95 kr. Hunting Namibia includes stories and full color pictures from almost ten years of safari hunting in Namibia. The safaris in this survey unfolded in most of the major untamed safaris areas of Namibia. This book offers helpful tips to those thinking about hunting in Namibia as well as stories that may seem familiar to those that have. Our safaris balance the drama, labor and fearlessness required for proper dangerous game hunting at close range with the precision shooting required for plains game. Our safaris started with tracking kudu and eland through the ancient acacia covered dunes and straights bordering Bushmanland then moves to dangerous game amongst the swamps of the Zambezi River in the Caprivi and the escarpment above. Larry Weishuhn adds a special dangerous game chapter entitled HEB. His exploits keep the reader right in the thorns and dust with him as he closes the gate on the hippo, elephant and buffalo of the Caprivi Strip. Our final weeks were spent amongst the powder dry red Kalahari dunes and arid wind swept mountains in the south and central regions where we found an abundance of uncontained gemsbok, kudu and Mountain zebra. Our provisions throughout were exceptional with the highlight likely being a feast of sheep's head and backstrap from one of the three cattle killing leopards we had to dispatch along the way. Our safaris in Namibia have been exciting, safe and fruitful with almost a total absence of biting flies and mosquitoes...what more could an adventure hunter ask for?

732,95 kr. Mystified by locating and positioning technologies? Need to get the best from your location system? This guide is invaluable for understanding how the positions and movements of objects can be measured and used for real-world applications. From it, you'll learn how to optimise and manage system performance by working with parameters such as velocity, orientation, time, proximity and direction, and consider not only accuracy, but also reliability, integrity, response time and uncertainty. Packed with practical examples, this concise book gives you an overview of terrestrial radiolocation techniques, including comparative system architectures and real-world performance and limitations. It describes inertial navigation principles and techniques, including low-cost MEMS sensors for consumer products, and a range of applications, such as those benefiting from hybrid positioning techniques.
